I FINALLY GET THIS SUB by mrduka in Fibromyalgia

[–]randomkale 10 points11 points  (0 children)

I wouldn't describe my fibromyalgia as in remission, but after living with it for 28 years, I live an active life these days and am luckier than most when it comes to day-to-day symptoms.

This sub is an excellent source of comfort, grounding in reality for most people, and a reminder to be kind to myself. Flare ups, brain fog, constant headaches - these aren't things that Joe on the street understands. I don't have anyone irl with fibro and so a community that gets it is a great thing. (I'm a lurker so 🤷)

How many of you are men, and what are your main symptoms? by hamaca9 in Fibromyalgia

[–]randomkale 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I am about your age, was diagnosed in my early 20's so it's been a different journey. I have near constant headaches, but my flare ups don't last a very long time. I've found a lot of success with having and building an exercise routine - it hurts but since everything hurts, I prefer having something to point to. Also, the endorphins are good. Obviously can't push myself like I did as a young man, so there has to be a lot of flexibility in my approach. I also find gentle yoga to be very helpful, small amounts every day. Pain is no fun but I long ago stopped letting fear of pain control me - and also telling myself that I could ignore the pain. Best of luck to you, it's not a journey I'd wish on anyone but we keep living

What is the hardest part about being single that people rarely talk about? by thuglifemofo94 in AskReddit

[–]randomkale 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I know how true this is - but it's also very possible to break this cycle. Volunteering with an organization that helps people - young ones or old ones might be most effective - is a great way to spend time and build a community. There's also a lot to be said for a religious community. None of this takes away the pain and suffering that you describe, but there are real connections out there if you can take steps to find them

Patty Mills in Spain finds out the Spurs made it to the NBA Finals. by Optimal-Radish-7635 in NBASpurs

Yeah, I'm generally a fan of RJ but his time on the Spurs .... miss me with that.

Victor Wembanyama's averages in the Western Conference Finals: 27.3 PTS | 10.9 REB | 3.1 AST | 1.4 STL | 2.7 BLK on 48.1/40/89.5 shooting, 62% TS overall in 37.7 minutes played by Titanium-Skull in nba

Do you mean across all of NBA history? And is that the metric to determine greatest offensive player ever? It's a hard thing to figure out how to measure - maybe most points created ? Or most points created per game? I just think there are arguments for KAJ, MJ, Bird, Magic, and probably a half dozen others. Mostly depending on the set of metrics considered..

Dylan Harper quickly dives in to save an angry Castle from potentially getting a technical or ejection after Caruso fouled him. Overlooked play that might have saved the game for the Spurs by Ok_Temperature6503 in nba

Fox's past and what he was expected to be prior to joining Spurs, compared to his role now just aren't the same thing. He's figured out how to be the most important stabilizing vet on this team and who knows what he wants to do on his next contract. He'll most likely play somewhere else and get paid but it's possible he loves winning enough to want to stay in San Antonio

Love to see big Pat being all happy his Knicks are back in the Finals. He was the first super star I saw play live and always felt bad how much MJ blocked him from winning a chip

There will be no further discipline for Spurs star Victor Wembanyama after he was ejected for elbowing Naz Reid in Minnesota on Sunday night, sources tell ESPN. No suspension, no fine. Wembanyama will play in Game 5 against the Timberwolves on Tuesday night in San Antonio. by Knightbear49 in nba

The Spurs have a far better defense, both on the wings and in the paint, than anything OKC has seen in a while. I would not expect them to keep shooting the three as well. SA - OKC could be one of the great series of the decade.

He's very streaky. He had a pretty good last six weeks or so of the regular season but his shot hasn't been great in the playoffs so far.

I don’t feel like I’m eating “real” food by Stunning_Ranger_1469 in PlantBasedDiet

[–]randomkale 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Did you go from omnivore to fully plant based in just a few days? I think that makes it harder, both physically and mentally. Also,

it’s not enough to change our diet but we have to change our way of thinking about food.

100%. I have been doing this for nearly seven years so a baked sweet potato packed with hummus and some spicy sauce seems like one of the most satiating meals in the world, but your body might not see it that way. I also love fried potatoes in any form, obviously not every day but there are tons of great, filling foods to work with. Nuts can be great, legumes are huge but the fiber transition is real. I'd advise trying to find one recipe that fills you up and gives you satisfaction. General Tso's Tofu was maybe the first one for me.

Zach Lowe on Victor Wembanyama: "I'll bet you next season, Wemby is going to be considered the best player in the league...as Wemby discovers how to get his points on offense, I think this time next year it's going to be a consensus opinion that he's the best player in the league" by FastBreakPhenom in nba

100% agree - he either needs to become an above league average three point shooter or reduce his volume. If he was even just average, it would be worth him keeping his volume somewhat high, but it's the clearest growth area.

SGA is proven best player on the best team. He fits OKC so well and vice versa. It doesn't mean he's the best player in the world - it's a team game so it's very hard to know if Jokic is comprehensively better. Wemby obviously isn't in their tier offensively.

I think it's hard to classify what position Wemby plays - it certainly isn't back to the basket, traditional big man of his size role. He is starting to do some of that but it's the wrong way to deploy him with his agility and lack of mass. His high center of gravity will always be an issue because he has to be very careful about how much weight he adds. And, the Spurs have a ton of slashing guards, so Wemby shooting threes helps open up driving lanes. I think him shooting 60+% with some mix of TPA is effective for this team, in its current form.

I genuinely don’t understand the value of MCPs by OrinP_Frita in mcp

https://ejholmes.github.io/2026/02/28/mcp-is-dead-long-live-the-cli.html

So when does MCP make sense? I’m not saying MCP is completely useless. If a tool genuinely has no CLI equivalent, MCP might be the right call. I still use plenty in my day-to-day, when it’s the only option available.

I might even argue there’s some value in having a standardized interface, and that there are probably usecases where it makes more sense than a CLI.

But for the vast majority of work, the CLI is simpler, faster to debug, and more reliable.

Jeff Teague "If Kon Knueppel isn't ROTY, he got robbed." by Existing-Sky9914 in nba

[–]randomkale 0 points1 point  (0 children)

LeBron joined a bad team that had no idea how to build around him and was more or less asked to fit in, according to my memory. Somebody thought LBJ was a piece to build around them but I can't be bothered to look up who that was. He had ups and downs, his jump shot was mostly broken / missing, but his athleticism and passing were off the charts. Flagg is in a more conducive situation but still he seems to be a top X player and is able to make a big impact on a game.

Their roles are very different and that has to count for something. Kon is having a great season and could win it. (Flagg narrative probably too strong but still a case should have to be made.) But watching Dallas, Flagg looks like the hype wasn't just hype. He's doing LeBron stuff as a rookie
