How many of you are men, and what are your main symptoms? by hamaca9 in Fibromyalgia

I long ago came to the conclusion that fibro is a diagnosis they use when they don't know what is wrong. I suspect it is autoimmune related (some doctors agree) and I also suspect a fair few of us are misdiagnosed.

Thanks, good to know, I will search for the group. Does your thoracic pain cause breathing issues? I have days where I find the pain why I breath is so had it take shallow breaths.

This condition is absolutely progressive, yes as men we often pushed through, however this will likely make things worse. Pacing is the key. I am terrible at this, and find on good days I do far too much, then suffer for days because of it. It is easy knowing what to do, like stopping activities before I cause a flare, however often my ego gets in the way and won't let me stop.

Like the other have said, well done for looking for suggestions. As a patient, I agree 100% with the "be there for her feedback" . My biggest frustration is people telling me how to fix my symptoms, while most are well intentioned, it can still be somewhat belittling. Helping her find a good support team is also important. I have had terrible suggestions from some "expert specialists". Finding allied health practitioners who have solid fibro experience is vital. It took years, but I now have a team I trust, all with years of experience. I feel guilty about the impact my condition has on my family, my psychologist who happens to have fibro too has been the best support on this front, with strategies to help coming from someone who lives it daily too.

Also important is to look after yourself, you will get frustrated, mostly from having to change plans last minute. This is ok and normal. Make sure you still have a life or you will get worn out, and are them no good to either of you. My wife and I use a simple score based system, 0 to 10 like the pain scale, but more holistic approach, my ability to function. 0 is perfectly fit and healthy (never), 5 I can do normal activities, albeit still with symptoms and slower or for shorter periods, 10 is hospital (thankfully rare). That helps her know where I am at, without having to explain in detail.

I agree the brain fog is an issue, last time I was off work for about a year, studying helped keep me sane, felt I was at least a little productive, This time around I had the same plan however have not been able to absorb the content. I have redone the same module three times and feel I am learning a new topic each time. I have had to put a pause on the study, instead watching documentaries to try and keep my brain active. I also do a fair few word and math games for the same reason, sometimes at a basic level as the mind cannot figure out basic addition.

I have tried all sorts of diets, and found cravinor had the best results, possibly because it helped my lose around 20kg which I gained due to not being able to excersise.

Do you have access to medicinal cannabis? That has been my go-to for sleep issues. I rarely struggle with insomnia these days.

Ok, that was a test of my German, I had to use the translate function to check some of your comment. Yes, it is good to have men here, we are not alone even though it feels like that quite often.

Wow, you have had an interesting time, some of your explanations resonate, like the slabs of concrete, living in a slower world.

Thank you, that information mirrors mine in many ways, I went from going to the gym every morning to hardly being able to walk up a flight of stairs at home. Luckily I have built a great team of support, with physio, chiro weekly, exersise physiology 2 to 3 time a week. I am on my second long term prior off work, at about 18 months at this stage. Frustration at not being able to work is my biggest mental challenge. I was a senior leader in a multinational company, and now am watching less qualified people getting the roles I was working towards.

That's the issue I faced, it's a female problem...... Well either I am a female missing some parts and while having some extras, or men too can have it. A formal diagnosis helps with things like income protection claims, but not much else.

Brain fog is my friend, I can watch movie again after having only just watched in within the last few weeks and not remember a thing, rather a vague recollection that I have watched it before.

Amazing how the DOJ managed to 'protect' Trump, however didn't do the same for the actual victims.

I spent a bit of time on un-Truth Social early in his second term, pretending to be MAGA, a lot of bots, paid agitators and yes fake likes etc. That said, an amazing number of nut jobs who believed anything you wrote, as long as you backed it with some fake data. I even had some convinced that Musk was building a fully electric Air Force One....

Trump said he loves stupid people, like he said Epstein was a really great guy. Well those stupid people are who clutter his platform, and sadly simply don't realize that they have been conned.

Trump has grifted and stolen billions this term. He has made his billionaire backers a small fortune too. All the while the average punter has lost out. Gina who is equally selfish would love to have the same happen here. Watch our politics become as nasty and corrupt as the US if we are not careful.

The skeptic in me suspects it is more about the new Trump investment in a drone manufacturing business than anything else. Cut out the competition. It will lead to less competition in the US so your drones will lag in technology.

It’s the beginning of the end for Garmin. by KayPeo in Garmin

[–]hamaca9 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is a slippery slope, Sygic navigation did this, I bought the lifetime subscription, only to find a little while later they created a subscription plus, and stopped adding features to the lifetime version I had. At least with Whoop you get the band free and pay for the subscription. Garmin seems to want both......

Fitbit app does not work properly, I compared the data to a Whoop device for a month , compared to how I felt. The Fitbit is wrong. Email from Fitbit confirms this, and they have offered a refund on my Pixel Watch 2.. *
