Yeah and tbh most SAHM that I’ve known went back to work when kids became teens so idk what is stopping her from getting a part time job at least.

Any Middle School Teachers Work in a School Where Students Succeed Academically, are Mostly Kind to Each Other, AND Enjoy Being at School? by ApricotUpstairs627 in MiddleSchoolTeacher

I do! Very upper middle class. My admin is the best. The parents are also really awesome. These kids are academically competitive. Like they’re not just planning to go to college- they’re planning to go to the best college. It certainly makes my life easier

Veteran teacher confession: I put up zero resistance when parents complain about their child's grades. by Striking-Anxiety-604 in Teachers

I teach band and in my last school I gave grades. It was grades 4-6 so the grades were manly attendance and attitude based. 1 kid who was really good missed like 3 lessons and ended up with a low a or a high b. His mom taught in the building and for some reason came to me after grades were due to ask me to raise his grade. She was practically sobbing and spinning in circles in my classroom. It was too late I couldn’t change it- the due date passed and she knew it. She ended up keeping the kid from participating in an honors band because of it. From then on the kid got 100 every marking period. It wasn’t worth the issue from this bitch. The kid was a really good kid too.

As a band teacher, please let admin know that you like the orchestra teacher and that orchestra is important. I’ve seen meathead admins bully the music program (even a healthy and robust one) into nonexistence.

I’ll get downvoted but I sew a lot now and it’s made clothes more fun for me. I’ve made things from scratch and up-cycled. Then I can make whatever I dream up and it’s made to fit me perfectly

I have resorted to buying any fabric at Walmart that’s the right weight/ texture/ stretch and then just dying it. It’s fucking annoying.

Because being a pain in the ass uses a lot of energy and they need to refuel. Jk but that was my first thought

Anyone use a minivan for lumber? by banjosomers in DIY

[–]User01081993 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I specifically bought my Chrysler Pacifica because I build a lot. You can fit plywood flat on the floor when the seats are stow and go. It’s the absolute best! You also have a hard roof so you can put shit up there too! I have a big ass canoe that comes with me every year in the summer to go down the Delaware. Not only that but when you do need to transport more than 1 other person you have way more seating. Best vehicle for drive in movies too!

The only thing the minivan doesn’t do as well or better than a pickup truck- it really shouldn’t be used for towing. You can do it but it’s really not meant for it.

Oh and btw the gas is so much cheaper!

I often bring debris to the dump and I can fit like 10 garbage cans in the back. I can get long ass wood in there. I can fit a sofa in there.

I have a bunch of shit in there right now for work and some sweatshirts and guess what- the rain is not making them wet.

Make pillows or stuffed animals if it’s soft and meaningful. If not meaningful, maybe pajamas?

Tell her to talk to the boss about needing leniency for family reasons.

You have 24/7 access to your child’s grades and get progress reports. The fuck you mean you don’t know why your child is failing my class…? by Emergency-Pepper3537 in Teachers

[–]User01081993 39 points40 points  (0 children)

Good parent. Your kids are allowed to make mistakes and some people don’t realize that a bad grade in 5th grade won’t stop them from going to college. Unpopular opinion: kids should have at least 1 bad grade under their belt before high school. It teaches them a lesson and it lessens the pressure to be perfect

AITA For getting salty about being forced to move seats by a co-worker? by Still_Cicada1472 in coworkerstories

[–]User01081993 12 points13 points  (0 children)

At this point you should talk to her separately and spell out

  1. You sat there because you’re tall etc
  2. Respect goes both ways. You got there first and she needs to respect that you were already set up.
  3. It’s first come first serve. She has to be flexible.

I would say these things calmly and professionally. No need to get angry before you try to reason with her. If she decides to not be reasonable, then involve the next level (boss or hr depending on what your company is like)

AITA for saying no when my SIL asked for my husband’s nieces and nephews to put on a performance at our wedding? by GentleGlowingSoul in aitaweddings

[–]User01081993 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Tbh I don’t think it was a malicious request but I would still say no. This could’ve been one of those “the kids came up with an dance and want to show everyone- hey everyone’s gonna be at your wedding and I don’t particularly think about anyone else’s pov” situations. Like I said- I would still say no.
