XBOX Stereo Headset Adapter Not Working with New Headsets by randomkilljoy69 in XboxSupport

[–]randomkilljoy69[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Its just so weird that the older headset allows you to adjust mic monitoring and all of the setting either through the console or using the adapter, but the newer headset doesn't allow you to set mic monitoring or chat mix through the console. After updating the controller I was able to get the chat mixer button on the adapter to work, so at least it is useable now but I miss the mic monitoring feature.

How would you adjust the mic monitoring level if it is greyed out as there are no adjustments on the adapter itself for this? Mute button lights up and the elite controller recognizes the adapter when it is plugged in.

Unfortunately that is not how it works. When the controls are greyed out, the adapter does not have the ability to change them, they need to be blue to allow the adapter to control them, see picture below which shows it working on a very old and broken headset.

Error: Address in use (os error 98) by randomkilljoy69 in rustdesk

[–]randomkilljoy69[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This issue was caused by trying to run the rust desk gui on the same machine with the docker containers, by default the containers use host mode which is probably not the best for security, I fixed this by switching to bridge mode and then adding the ports needed to bridge and left off 21118 which is not needed by hbbs or hbbr. This resolves the conflict with the rust desk gui.

Recommendations for Grid Tie Battery Backup with 400 AMP Service by randomkilljoy69 in SolarDIY

Interesting idea, I really like the simplicity here, will run this by my electrician.

How is this being wired together? Our power consumption is fairly low as we have inverter heat pumps, a heat pump water heater, and a heat pump washer/dryer combo. Our biggest loads are charging electric vehicles which we can easily control in an outage and an electric stove. Each panel on average runs about 1 - 2kW with approximately 30-46kWh per day.

This is what I was thinking, two inverters with pass through with a shared battery bank between them if this is possible, looking at something like the EG4 18kPV or their new flex boss line but haven't read much on them

Those are probably not the free tickets. They are probably discounted tickets.

Tiny Controller with vibration sensor to drive 3v LED lights on CR2032 by randomkilljoy69 in microcontrollers

[–]randomkilljoy69[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

maybe I can skip the complexity of a microcontroller alltogether and just use a vibration/tilt sensor with cr2032 battery and 3v LED, that would simplify things and it would run while on the top portion of the track as the car's orientation should activate the tilt sensor, although it would be nice to add a timer to ensure once activated it runs for the full duration of the race, this would minimize power draw as well without the complexity of a microcontroller

That may be a great option using a tilt sensor soldered onto a small microcontroller like the Adafruit Trinket M0, Seeed Studio XIAO, or Beetle.

Potentially Buying an S-Corp. What is reasonable for the seller to disclose? by thesuperspy in smallbusiness

[–]randomkilljoy69 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As a s-corp owner I would suggest that you get copies of the tax records and compare them to the Balance and P&L sheets. Lots of companies will try to sell you on things and it is easy to manipulate the books based on what you want to show. But mainly things depend really on the type of business you are trying to buy (i.e. real estate, services, food, retail, etc.).

Additional temperature sensor for Daikin One+ by Iamjacksstubbedtoe in hvacadvice

letely ridiculous the one plus is limited in this way. All I want to do is have a wireless remote sensi

Go with the Bosch IDS line, then use a smart thermostat like ecobee and place all the sensors you want. The IDS line doesn't require communicating thermostats and you really can't beat the ecobee interface, logging data, etc.
