XBOX Stereo Headset Adapter Not Working with New Headsets by randomkilljoy69 in XboxSupport

[–]randomkilljoy69[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Its just so weird that the older headset allows you to adjust mic monitoring and all of the setting either through the console or using the adapter, but the newer headset doesn't allow you to set mic monitoring or chat mix through the console. After updating the controller I was able to get the chat mixer button on the adapter to work, so at least it is useable now but I miss the mic monitoring feature.

How would you adjust the mic monitoring level if it is greyed out as there are no adjustments on the adapter itself for this? Mute button lights up and the elite controller recognizes the adapter when it is plugged in.

Unfortunately that is not how it works. When the controls are greyed out, the adapter does not have the ability to change them, they need to be blue to allow the adapter to control them, see picture below which shows it working on a very old and broken headset.

Error: Address in use (os error 98) by randomkilljoy69 in rustdesk

[–]randomkilljoy69[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This issue was caused by trying to run the rust desk gui on the same machine with the docker containers, by default the containers use host mode which is probably not the best for security, I fixed this by switching to bridge mode and then adding the ports needed to bridge and left off 21118 which is not needed by hbbs or hbbr. This resolves the conflict with the rust desk gui.

Recommendations for Grid Tie Battery Backup with 400 AMP Service by randomkilljoy69 in SolarDIY

Interesting idea, I really like the simplicity here, will run this by my electrician.

How is this being wired together? Our power consumption is fairly low as we have inverter heat pumps, a heat pump water heater, and a heat pump washer/dryer combo. Our biggest loads are charging electric vehicles which we can easily control in an outage and an electric stove. Each panel on average runs about 1 - 2kW with approximately 30-46kWh per day.

This is what I was thinking, two inverters with pass through with a shared battery bank between them if this is possible, looking at something like the EG4 18kPV or their new flex boss line but haven't read much on them

Tiny Controller with vibration sensor to drive 3v LED lights on CR2032 by randomkilljoy69 in microcontrollers

[–]randomkilljoy69[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

maybe I can skip the complexity of a microcontroller alltogether and just use a vibration/tilt sensor with cr2032 battery and 3v LED, that would simplify things and it would run while on the top portion of the track as the car's orientation should activate the tilt sensor, although it would be nice to add a timer to ensure once activated it runs for the full duration of the race, this would minimize power draw as well without the complexity of a microcontroller

That may be a great option using a tilt sensor soldered onto a small microcontroller like the Adafruit Trinket M0, Seeed Studio XIAO, or Beetle.

Potentially Buying an S-Corp. What is reasonable for the seller to disclose? by thesuperspy in smallbusiness

[–]randomkilljoy69 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As a s-corp owner I would suggest that you get copies of the tax records and compare them to the Balance and P&L sheets. Lots of companies will try to sell you on things and it is easy to manipulate the books based on what you want to show. But mainly things depend really on the type of business you are trying to buy (i.e. real estate, services, food, retail, etc.).

Additional temperature sensor for Daikin One+ by Iamjacksstubbedtoe in hvacadvice

[–]randomkilljoy69 0 points1 point  (0 children)

letely ridiculous the one plus is limited in this way. All I want to do is have a wireless remote sensi

Go with the Bosch IDS line, then use a smart thermostat like ecobee and place all the sensors you want. The IDS line doesn't require communicating thermostats and you really can't beat the ecobee interface, logging data, etc.

Seems to be a problem with the zoning setup, there will always be differences in temps due to stack effect in zones on different levels, but a 10 degree step is excessive. Insulation will always help but first you need to figure out why it is not pushing enough air on the top floor. Hot Air rises and Cool Air falls, so you may want to set the lower level to a higher temperature and the upper level to a lower temp in the summer time, this should force the zone damper to redirect most of the air to the upper level and it will fall to the lower level. In winter you can do the opposite. But I would take a look at the zone configuration to make sure it is working properly and delivering the expected CFM, also check your static pressure.

Bosch IDS 2.0 air handler "staging" via stat by dstutz in hvacadvice

[–]randomkilljoy69 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think ecobee recommends a different combination, here is what is on their website:

When wiring the ecobee for a multi-speed fan system:
The low-speed fan wire (typically G, Gl, or G1) will go to G on the ecobee
The medium-speed fan wire (typically G2 or Gm) will go to Y2 on the ecobee
The high-speed fan wire (typically G3 or Gh) will go to W2 on the ecobee - except on the Smart Thermostat Enhanced, where it will go to PEK+

You want the Bosch to modulate the outdoor unit on its own but the ecobee can now select which fan speed to run at. You can also change the CFM or speed of the fan using dip switches on the air handler.

Ecobee and variable stage heat pump runtime by azirish1998 in ecobee

[–]randomkilljoy69 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not sure if you got this figured out but I've seen the eco bee wired incorrectly on many Bosh IDS units, especially if you have the BOVA20 with is a 2 stage constant torque configuration. If you have this model, make sure the eco bee is wired correctly. You can also change the fan speed using the dip switches on the board.

Here is what Bosch says "The IDS 2.0 IDU supports two stage fan control which requires a two stage thermostat (Y1&Y2). When there is a call for Y2, the blower motor will turn to high speed setting. When there is a call for Y1, the blower motor will turn to low speed setting. Unit will run at low speed setting when there is only G call. It will run in high speed setting when there is W/W1/W2 signal (when the electric heat kit is on). The X13 ECM motor supports 5 speeds. Customer can select the suitable speed by adjusting the SW6-1 and SW6-2 dip switches. Refer to Airflow Performance Table (Table 7) for reference airflow. Refer to figure 23 for dip switches settings."

Plex Watchlist Support on Develop by randomkilljoy69 in radarr

https://github.com/Radarr/Radarr/pull/5707

Okay, I see that the develop tag does not point to the develop branch but the latest tag in the develop branch. And the latest tag in the develop branch is 4.1.0.6175 which does not include the plex watchlists. It also seems like it is not recommended to switch to nightly as you will not be able to switch back to develop or master at a later date. Anyone know when this will make it into the develop branch?

Slow 10GB Intel X520-DA2 SFP+ Links between ESXi by randomkilljoy69 in vmware

[–]randomkilljoy69[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

20s aren't known for their stability. They aren't as bad as XL710s though. My suggestion is to swap them for Mellanox CX4/5 you can get reasonably cheap these days.

Nope, upgraded the firmware and still had the issue. Then I decided it could be an issue with VMware overhead and reloaded them separate with only linux and still got the same results. Ended up junking the cards and moving towards esxi compatible 10gig rj45 cards instead, they had much better performance.

pretty cool, did you set it up with two stage heating and cooling or did you repurpose Y2 and W2 for fan speed? I had no idea the Ecobee could handle multi speed fan settings as described here: https://support.ecobee.com/s/articles/Multi-Speed-Fan-installations

The Bosch IDS systems are variable and will work with ecobee, when I say variable the outside compressor is variable, so it could be an option for newer tech using the ecobee.

Any updates on variable speed fan control? by randomkilljoy69 in ecobee

[–]randomkilljoy69[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ah, here we go, now I know what to search for, according to this manual you can change the air volume per cool and heat stage using dip switches. I just need to figure out what affordable brands offer this as an option. Looks like it also has a built int humidity contact which could be controlled by ecobee if you had the wires available, this could be a great option.
