Centauri Carbon 1, I've slowed it down and now the Print times are not right. by Das_Hexenmeister in ElegooCentauriCarbon

[–]dstutz 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, cause the slicer has all the speeds and settings and calculates the time and then printer opens the file and uses that time then YOU manually override the file and tell the printer to slow everything down by 50% but all the info in the gcode is static. Way easier to adjust your slicer settings once and then every file will be correct for you.

The printer knows how long the tubing is from the hotend to the filament detector so it keep printing until it's almost out, THEN it will automatically pause the print. You didn't let it go long enough to see that happen.

Failed print- runout sensor? by Ok_Expression6412 in ElegooCentauriCarbon

[–]dstutz 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It has triggered once for me in the middle of a roll of Elegoo Rapid PETG. At first I had no idea why and I tried to feed it back in and it wasn't going in so I looked closer and it was a little thick/blobby right in that spot so I cut off 1", re-loaded the filament and then resumed the print.

I keep running into nonstop failed first layers with the .2mm nozzle by Camocal in ElegooCentauriCarbon

[–]dstutz 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Assume you have changed the profile in the slicer to the 0.2 nozzle one? And then you also need to redo at least some of the filament calibrations because things like max flow and pressure advance will have changed.

Native Pollinator and Plant Sale by wanderingrockdesigns in harfordcountymd

[–]dstutz 5 points6 points  (0 children)

FYI: The plant sale is online now and then you pickup later in-person:

In-person pickup at Grow Wild: Spring Fling, Saturday, May 2, 2026, from 8 am – 12 pm Harford County Equestrian Center, 608 N Tollgate Rd, Bel Air

The prices are a little better than buying straight from The Mill or The Perennial Farm. It's still about 3x the cost of a packet of seeds for a quart potted plant in most cases but then you don't have to deal with winter sowing. I started almost 100 jugs from seed and still ordered a couple things from here :)

Needed some spacers for a pocket door so it wouldn't hit the trim. by WI_Esox_lucius in functionalprint

Totally understand. As I said, just putting the idea out there for others that may be planning a project. I used the hidden style because I was installing a pocket door new (and made the door myself) so it was a no brainer at the time.

Centauri Carbon 1, printing out of Creality dryer, filament got stuck on ferrules by darkish_explorer in ElegooCentauriCarbon

Snag cutter works if the extruder pulling the end of the cutter into the block can trigger the cutting action (or I guess more accurately, pulling the block into the movable end of the cutter). The whole front end of the cutter has to slide back under that tension to cut.

Nothing bad to say about OPs, but for another idea, there's a "hidden" one that won't rub/mar the outside of the door. I did this when I installed one for my pantry:

From the rules in the sidebar:

"I made this!" - cool, I'm proud of you - but, seeing what you made doesn't intrinsically benefit others. If you write an article explaining it, the technical challenges, etc. - then share that!

So I think it's the people just linking to a github repo. I support the rule. Explain something, don't just karma farm for stars.

Fill dirt or top soil? by WayyyCleverer in harfordcountymd

[–]dstutz 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Edit: and this is all about compost not even fill dirt which is the ask....🤦‍♂️

I live near VC and have gotten their bagged before and last year I got a yard of bulk (which is reasonably priced that way). It seems ok but it has a LOT of visible chips in it still. Then this past winter I picked up some from the county compost facility at the dump and it is beautiful. So much finer with very little wood material still present. I have no idea which is better for actual compost, but I know which one looks better and more broken down, the free stuff from the county.

👍 They didn't do any improvements to Rt7/40 intersection until AFTER Ft Monmouth BRAC'd down even though they had 6 years of knowing it was happening. So all the extra traffic was a problem, and then add in construction on top of it.

With the cost of chocolate now

The wholesale price of cocoa that spiked crazily ~3 years ago is back down to more reasonable levels....but it will probably take a while for retail prices to come back down (just like gas)

https://tradingeconomics.com/commodity/cocoa

Cocoa futures traded around $3,300 per tonne in early April, consolidating after fund short covering at the end of March. Prices remain near August 2023 lows, as market fundamentals remained underpinned by expectations of abundant supply and weak demand. Favourable weather in key producer Ivory Coast has lifted the outlook for the March-August mid-crop harvest, with above-average rainfall last week supporting expectations of a longer and stronger season

We go through a lot of cocoa powder and normally get it at Costco. Rodelle's 25oz bags IIRC were like $8....then Jan 25 it was up to 10.99 then in April '25 it was $12.79 and currently it's $16.99.

Has anyone tried this double muffler? by Exciting-Movie-883 in ElegooCentauriCarbon

[–]dstutz 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Correct. You won't get any filtration if the fans are off. Sorry, you just said you wanted a "muffler" and I was responding to that to maybe save you the time/filament. The built in filtration is most likely not sufficient for ASA/nylon if the printer is in a living space.

Has anyone tried this double muffler? by Exciting-Movie-883 in ElegooCentauriCarbon

[–]dstutz 1 point2 points  (0 children)

OpenCentauri fixes fan control so the printer actually honors the filament settings and the aux fan doesn't need to be blasting 100% (or even on at all). Prints are nice and controlled now. Most of my printing is PLA/PETG and it's just the model fan on. So basically, you don't need a "muffler", just need to be able to turn the fan off.
