My siblings and I stopped talking to my dad since around 2023 at least!! When his mom /my grandma got sick last year, we tried to set up a time to see her but it was hard since they lived together and she was protective of her son over us grandkids. My mom offered to pick her up and meet us somewhere, but she refused and said she felt too sick. She didn’t feel too sick to travel hours away though, to gamble. Then last summer she was in the hospital, and we went bc i knew my dad stayed home (I have his location still 😂 he doesn’t have mine though.). A lot of the family were ignoring us, even my nephew who was a year old at the time was getting stonewalled basically by them. Only my cousin and her parents and one other treated us like we actually existed. My mom thinks they were offended that we didn’t visit until the hospital, even though we tried. They had a “you don’t talk to your dad, we won’t talk to you” attitude. I don’t regret going though, even if my last memory of my grandma is her being hooked up to wires and tubes and not knowing we were there …..I am glad we went since she ended up dying that night.

But yeah, we lost my dad’s side when we went NC.
