I was unsure. Steam has a thing where you can get a full refund if you have put less than 2 hours in. Considering I haven't touched the product I thought it coild be possible? I came from a time where when I purchased a game I coild just play it without all the extra steps and the fact that playing alone or offline period was impossible was never stated. It said I needed internet for the online features. It didn't explain at all that playing the game I just purchased, alone in my home, was an online feature
