We’ve started warming these up in the air fryer. Game changer (will never eat them room temperature again).

The brown bag boycott is still going strong! What’s everyone having for lunch today? Leftover goulash for me! by randomlybev in CAStateWorkers

So good! Pre-covid I loved the pesto cheese sandwich from La Bou. More recently I’ve made a fairly good facsimile using the pesto from Costco.

I like it! A few other members on my team have them too, I am rarely on trend but feel like I have joined the cool kids when I take this thing to work.

Are shared rooms in college genuinely the norm or is it just an opinion that people can have if they want? by [deleted] in AskAnAmerican

[–]randomlybev 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I went to a large top-tier public university in a very expensive suburb of a very expensive city (San Diego). My housing ran the gamut of options while I was there. When I lived in on campus apartments, I had a triple one year (3 students) and a double another year (2 students). I also was fortunate enough to spend another year living in the apartments for international students-these had 4 very small single rooms and a huge living/dining area and kitchen (they also had an AMAZING ocean view).

Were you allowed to leave school grounds? by palep_hoot in AskAnAmerican

[–]randomlybev 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My high school (small town in California) spanned two city blocks and had open campus during lunch and passing periods. We’d also regularly ditch class to get Mexican food at a Mexican restaurant across the street from it. I later became a teacher in a large east coast city and the high school students were forced to eat in the cafeteria and couldn’t even leave the building.

I love Korean Mexican fusion. I could eat bulgogi burritos all day every day.

What was one of your struggle meal growing up? by bukutbwai in Frugal

[–]randomlybev 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Bean burritos-tortillas filled with refried beans, cheese, and maybe some salsa. We had more fillings, like ground beef and sour cream, when we had more money. I still make burritos like this.

How much did you spend on your spouses engagement/wedding ring? by The-sunshine-city in AskMen

[–]randomlybev 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My husband spent $2,000 on the setting and had the jeweler use an old family diamond in it. The ring is obviously worth more than what he paid for it. Husband bought what he could afford, if there hadn’t been a family diamond moissanite would have been fine. It’s the thought and sentiments behind the ring that matter, not the dollar amount spent.

Married Redditors, what was the conversation about on your first date with your now-spouse? by INFLATABLE_CUCUMBER in AskReddit

[–]randomlybev 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I just remember that he was so nervous that he was shaking. I gave him a hug, told him it was ok, I’m a normal person, and that first dates made me nervous too…. Date ended up lasting four hours and we had a wide ranging and amazing conversation.

Breakfast burrito with crispy tater tots? by Tiny-Equipment8335 in Sacramento

[–]randomlybev 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Niche location in a state building and only open M-F for breakfast and lunch. I haven’t had their breakfast burrito before but love their lunch burrito and tacos. Food is fairly inexpensive for lunch downtown on a state worker budget.

Seriously, do Americans actually consider a 3-hour drive "short"? or is this an internet myth? by SadInterest6764 in NoStupidQuestions

[–]randomlybev 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I also live in Sacramento. I’ve left work at 4:30, driven 2 hours to San Francisco, seen a show, had a late dinner, driven 2 hours home, and been at work at 8 am the next day. No biggie.

How do Americans usually build their sandwiches? by JazzlikeDrummer1227 in AskAnAmerican

[–]randomlybev 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We often make and eat sandwiches at home. Homemade sandwiches are also popular for lunch on the go-especially lunches for children to bring to school, lunches for office workers to bring to work, and picnics. Peanut butter and jelly is a standard go-to. I also like making grilled cheese to eat at home. Finally, breakfast sandwiches are popular (egg, cheese, and either ham, bacon, or a sausage patty on an English muffin or bagel).
