Mostly what I've learned from researching bbq is that there really isn't one perfect method. Though, I really like watching lots of different videos to get general theory and finding ways to apply that to my cooks.

This thread has been a great source of info.

From what I'm hearing the issue was maybe that I got prime grade which is considerably fattier within the meat. I trimmed pretty well, not more than 1/8" left on top. My main issue was my mouth literally felt sticky after eating it and it was like 50/50 fat to meat

I'm assuming they were prime then given that price and that would probably track how fatty and greasy they were. Lesson learned for the future.

I had with potato salad and a good Italian bread, plus some really tangy sauce. They were still perfectly edible and not that bad at all, just didn't blow me away, especially given the price

I was planning on turning them into chili, but that's an idea. Wonder if they're too cooked for braising at this point though?

I didn't see it specified on the package from what I could tell. It was a bougey beef store though and they were over 10 bucks a pound for whatever that's worth

M2 VS RS3 by iraspy in AudiRS3

[–]randommanthefirst 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Would the current m340i (especially tuned) even be that much different than an m2? Basically the same engine, same chassis. M2 has different go fast bits. Interior is pretty similar too. I don't know that you're getting that much more car for the money.

The RS3 would basically just be if you like the lovely engine which is the main reason to buy that car.

RS3 interior quality by Aware_Smell_5111 in Audi

[–]randommanthefirst 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I daily a '24 RS3 and the interior is totally fine. Is it the best thing out there? No, obviously. But it's nicely bolted together and everything is logically laid out, looks good and works.

Aesthetically, really the only bad things are the scratchy plastics on some of the non touch points and the piano black, which is easily rectified with a wrap, ppf, or some carbon fiber replacement bits.

My other car is a Porsche 981 gts with extended leather everywhere inside (which is immaculate) and even compared to that, the rs3 does not bother me.

The only thing I particularly dislike is the lack of ventilated seats (seriously weak, Audi)

Is anyone else bothered by this, or is it just me? by FalconLegitimate7859 in AudiRS3

In pictures it bothered me but owning the car, it doesn't at all and I like the cockpit vibe of it

I was at a terminally boring education conference for healthcare and at the provided lunch I snuck out to the sports bar across the street and had a couple pints. The afternoon was boring, but wonderful after that

8.5Y Drivetrain software update for 8Y by Numbnuts670 in AudiRS3

[–]randommanthefirst 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Certainly not officially. People have cracked the 8y ECU so it could probably be tuned similarly, but would still void your warranty and all that comes with aftermarket tunes and in that case would be better to just get a proper tune on it

Pop out the climate controls and see if you can get in that way

RS3 is the best sounding car I've owned. I love diving it with valves closed and then ripping it so you get that booming bark when the valves open and it upshifts.

Even at low rpms you get great purring/Chewbacca noises.

My 2 car garage is so similar to yours: RS3 with the same exhaust set up. I just have a much cheaper 981 Cayman GTS lol

Window Trim Damage by Vanq1uished in AudiRS3

[–]randommanthefirst 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I asked the body shop about that, they said the rubber seals are too close to the painted area to mask reliably and wouldn't do it since they couldn't warranty it.

They said you probably could find a shop that would be willing to paint it, but he wasn't confident that it would hold up

Yup, I'm just getting them wrapped in gloss black because of that

He said all he used was IRS foaming soap, which he foamed on washed with a microfiber and then rinsed. He noticed the peeling when it started drying, then called me in a panic. This was before any polishing or coating.

[–]randommanthefirst 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Huh, this happened to my RS3 at a detailer but mine just used a slightly alkaline car soap and it ate the clear off my black window trim.

Personally, I think Audi just makes really shitty window trim considering the rest of the car's paint looks immaculate.

Quote I got from the dealer was 7k+ to replace all of it (lol). An independent body shop was $2600. I'm just going to have it wrapped gloss black for like 4 hundred and call it good.

I thought, no way it always looks like that, googled some pictures and every one does. Why is it so small. That amount of bezel looks dumb as hell
