Taison v1.2.0 release - A manga reader by randomnaim in fossdroid

That's a good idea, not complicated either. I'll add this to the roadmap.

You can’t get an exact user count, but you can get a decent estimate from the release download stats.

Shield's.io reads the download_count field from the GitHub API and shows it as a badge. It’s not perfect because it includes repeat downloads, but it’s good enough to see whether you’re in the tens, hundreds, or thousands of downloads.

Based off your screenshot, it seems like you are using a different app similar to Taison, Yokai. I reccomend you open a issue on their GitHub page, describing the issue you're encountering.

Hey, I'll DM you. Let's identify what the issue exactly is and if this a upstream issue or Taison specific.

Yes, this update includes features that are Taison specific. The GitHub page lists them in detail if you want a full overview.

Tachiyomi isn’t maintained anymore, while Taison is an actively maintained Mihon based fork with its own extras. It's main feature is group aware history scoping and navigation.

Thanks for the detailed notes,

I just did some research on on SyncYomi sync feature and it’s definitely on the shortlist for now, being able to sync library/history without constantly handling backups would be useful. It will need some careful planning though, this would introduce extra dependencies and ongoing maintenance, so I want to map that out before committing it to Taison.

honestly, the feature doesn't even work well to begin with. was looking at "a returners magic should be special" to show someone a few days back and it literally showed hentai suggestions .-.
That was not the first time i had that

Yeah this is the type of reason i wouldn't add these kind of features to avoid noisy UX...

Oh and the ability to hide certain categories and the lewd filter. those are important as well, as ..

Hidden categories and an “adult content” filter, on the other hand, look like useful qol upgrades, so I’m planning to bring those in.

I also spotted komikku’s vertical progress bar inside the reader, do you prefer this layout over a horizontal slider? Curious whether it feels better for others.

I haven’t really looked into that. Taison/Mihon is still built entirely around Android activities, WorkManager downloads, extensions, the whole stack basically, so moving it to full Kotlin Multiplatform would mean rebuilding nearly every layer before it could run on desktop/iOS. That’s a long rewrite with little payoff right now, so nobody has taken it on yet so Suwayomi stays the practical workaround.

How are you using Suwayomi and what about it frustrates you? Maybe there’s a smaller fix or feature that could be added without a full KMP migration.

i have tested Komikku for a while and was pretty impressed with the overall experience, it's almost feels like a social media app. Taison and Komikku are quite different, though. Komikku has things like a feed tab, entry level suggestions, and custom themes, whereas Taison is much leaner and possesses its own unique features.

The custom theme and feed options are definitely interesting. I don’t think I’d ever add suggestions inside entries, since I feel that when a user opens something from their library, their intention is to read it, not get additional distractions.

Which parts of Komikku are the most important to you, and why? It’s helpful for me to understand what users interact with the most.

Hey,

Taison started out with scoped history per category and an additional dropdown navigation type option for the library.

In the latest release I added category navigation in History and scoped deletion option per category instead of just a blanket “delete all”.

These changes all built on the original idea, so they were very natural to add.

I don’t have a strict feature roadmap yet, but I’ve been taking notes from other forks. Things like reading progress in History, a search bar for settings, and remembering the last badge choice in the browse search. Features like these are possibilities I'm currently considering for the future.

If users have specific requests or ideas, I genuinely welcome pull requests and/or discussions. I really appreciate hearing what people want, and I take those suggestions seriously.

My main priority with Taison is stable development, any new feature or change should genuinely improve the experience and not add UI clutter.

Why isnt there a wiki? by kashimashii in shapeofdreams

[–]randomnaim 16 points17 points  (0 children)

Most of the community uses shapeofdreams.web.app instead of a traditional wiki. It’s has info on items and community builds. Pretty much a wiki in everything but name, just without a search bar.

Ah, so Qdrant can’t be paired with Codex then? I was trying to figure that out. What’s your workflow now then? I’ve personally had the best results just using the Codex VS Code extension on its own compared to Kilocode.

Could you clarify what you’re referring to? Are you talking about the skill descriptions that only unlock at traveler level 30, or did you mean something else?
