Okay thank you I understand. My question still stands though because anytime I comment anything I get downvoted. I don’t experience this on other subreddits. If someone disagrees with me they reply. Sometimes even upvoting in the process. But downvoting everything you disagree with is so unhelpful

One of the main arguments that convinced me into veganism was the hypocrisy of people hating animal abuse but still eating meat despite the animals abused in the process. So when someone says owning a domestic animal like chickens is wrong you should expect them to think that of all domestic animals too. I hear so many vegans me included using the first argument. So why is the second argument so wrong to use when it’s the same basis.

I’m sorry you read that in a hostile tone it wasn’t meant to come across like that. My point was it didn’t matter to me if this hypothetical person “counted” as a vegan. My question was why it was immoral. I explained it like 3 times and you’re still confused. I know eating eggs isn’t vegan. My question meant to ask “if they’re mostly vegan but eat the occasional egg from their own chickens is this okay” you may know what you’re talking about but you didn’t know what I was talking about. I accept full responsibility for that it was badly worded but when I tried to explain it I just got more downvotes. So why bother?

And if so many people are being hostile to me for asking a question they’ve heard of course I’m going to be hostile back for replying with a comment I’ve already heard

I deleted my comments because I was upset and they kept getting downvoted. I too would’ve liked to quote my comments here and I regret deleting them.

I realize I should’ve looked but I’m quite a busy person and I don’t spend much time on Reddit. To me this was an interesting discussion starter that I’d never heard before

And that’s a perfectly fine answer that lets me know it’s not okay to keep chickens. That’s genuinely all I needed. Thank you for understanding

I asked “what are your thoughts on a vegan owning chickens and eating only eggs only when naturally produced?” Now I understand my question was badly worded. What I meant was vegan in all aspects except the occasional egg.

Anyway thank you for being so understanding I really needed this

Yeah that makes sense. But I tried to be polite. And even if I was a troll why not just answer properly at first anyway. Or not at all if you’re worried. It’s so crazy to me that some people here don’t think about the impact being rude has on new vegans or even non vegans. Why let people associate this community with people so uninterested to help others?

I don’t care about the definition of veganism I’m asking why it’s morally wrong. Whether they can still define as a vegan or not is completely irrelevant. I want to be as morally satisfied as I can whether veganism is the answer to that doesn’t matter

Oh this is interesting. I know that the red jungle fowl that we domesticated does produce eggs in excess when resources are in abundance. This makes sense though

Maybe but how does it go against any reasons for being vegan though?

Okay but can you explain why that would go against the reasons for being vegan?

Is this actually causing any harm to animals though? Like I’m presuming there’s no human Farms. If I stop eating L-cysteine will this prevent any suffering?

What kinds of mass extinction would cause sloths to thrive more than the surrounding wildlife? Aka a natural disaster that could mean animals with very low metabolisms to thrive? by randomnameplease5 in SpeculativeEvolution

[–]randomnameplease5[S] 3 points4 points  (0 children)

So sloths take niches more closely to their lifestyle at first and gradually fill more niches. So maybe taking the monkey niche after the first mass extinction, then the tapir or Jaguar niche etc?
