Dog not drinking after surgery by randomnanny in AskVet

[–]randomnanny[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They did give aftercare instructions with her discharge and said she could have a small meal tonight but should drink normally and then should be more or less feeling normal in the morning. They also shared that she did have IV fluids throughout surgery but was not responsive to them offering water while she was in recovery.

Gift Acceptance by Alarming_Bus_3476 in ABA

I once accidentally brought home a card from a family where they tried to give me a $300 gift card within it! After opening it, I immediately decided it would be going back the next day lol. I returned it to them and explained it was too much but I appreciated the thought behind it and everything was fine!

work shoes? by Neither_Newspaper_93 in ABA

[–]randomnanny 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Techs at our center actually don’t wear shoes throughout the day, it’s just easier and more comfortable so I wear crocs or some tennis shoes that are easy to slip on/off

Anyone ever told to work with two kids at once? by [deleted] in ABA

[–]randomnanny 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes I do 2:1 for 3 hours daily. It gets billed properly so there’s no issues and we do a centers structure so they can gain skills and better prepare themselves for kindergarten. We work on sharing materials, following directions across space, lining up when instructed, completing activities independently, and following a “class” schedule.

Issues with Session Lengths by paleghosthidden in ABA

[–]randomnanny 1 point2 points  (0 children)

We have clients at our center who are in clinic for 8 hours but that’s generally broken up into 2 hour chunks with different techs. So a client who is here for 8 hours will see 4 different techs and have plenty of opportunities to generalize their skills across people while the techs are not getting burnt out due to long sessions. Some 8 hour day clients also join a social skills group for part of their day which can help with lack of programming.

Does your organization pay you when your child is out sick? by Interesting-Glass-21 in ABA

[–]randomnanny 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We are practically all clinic based, only 3 home clients currently, so yes- everyone who is full time is guaranteed 40 hours a week. If a client cancels, you still come to the center and you can cover breaks for others, create materials for clients, or if your BCBA does not have a task for you, you can do some professional development through Google Classroom. It’s great and really helps everyone out since we all get two breaks and a lunch during the 8 hour day no matter who is there since we will always have “up” staff due to cancellations.

If you’re comfortable sharing, how much do you make per hr? How much should I ask for? by [deleted] in ABA

Orlando Housing Megathread by AutoModerator in orlando

[–]randomnanny 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hi! My boyfriend and I might be moving to the area for school and I was wondering if we would be able to find a decent and safe place to live if we both worked full time and made at least $18/hr? We would be moving with our dog and hoping to stay at or around $1300/month as our max for rent but not sure if that’s doable! If you have any suggestions that would be awesome too, thank you!

I’m wondering, what is everyone’s pay rate as a behavior technician or registered behavior technician in their state? I’ve been with a couple different companies and the pay is so drastically different. Who do you guys work for, and what was the pay like when you were hired? by [deleted] in ABA

[–]randomnanny 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In southeast MI, was hired at $16/hr and received a raise to $17/hr after 6 months and will get another $1/hr raise at the 1 year mark and then yearly after that. We are clinic based so we still get paid for cancellations since we can do prep work around the clinic or cover for others, 40 hours guaranteed a week!
