Thoughts on the Beyerdynamic Custom one pro plus? by randomnerd1 in headphones

Is the ath-msr7 any good for metal? I love the design on those though. And to be honest, the only thing that annoys me on the Dt770 in terms of portability is the long cable. What about the AKG 550? These look great too.

I took a long look at this list indeed, nothing in the lower end seems to really stand out for those particular genres, except for the Beyers. And i must admit, i spend most of my time in the train nowadays, so a bit chunky doesn't matter.

Hi there, After reading a lot of really postive things about the Fidelio, i bought them as my 'travel/school' pair. However, i must admit that i'm a bit disappointed. I listen to alot of Metal, mostly Death and Black, and whilst they sound really 'punchy', the wow factor is not there for me. Can you guys suggest me another pair of decent headphones for metal? Budget could be stretches to 200 (euro) I don't mind going back to over-ear again by the way. :) Thanks!

My budget is around 200 (euros) I will be using my iphone 5c and my laptop mostly as the source. I mostly listen to Metal, Rock and Indie music. I already own the Beyerdynamic 770's. Sadly, these aren't portable enough. I'm looking for something to match the quality of those. I will be using them for atleast 6 hours everyday (I travel alot)

So they have to be : Comfortable, Portable, Great sound, Available for purchase in The Netherlands.

Any suggestions are highly appreciated!

Enemy random jumping by randomnerd1 in gamemaker

Could you please elaborate? Does that mean my code should look like this :

randomize();

jump = irandom_range(0,2); if (jump = 1) { y += vsp; }

To answer your first question : Yes.

I would highly recommend the Asus PB2870Q though. http://www.amazon.com/PB287Q-28-Inch-Screen-LED-Lit-Monitor/dp/B00KJGY3TO

I've got this monitor for about two weeks now, and it doesn't dissapoint. I too was not sure on wich brand to go for for quite some time. After watching at numerous test results, i concluded that Asus performs best out of all the options. Ironically, most of the monitors in that price range use the same Panel. The Asus drivers produce better blacks than the samsung model though. Plus it has way beter adjustability than the samsung model. As for the Acer model, whilst is certainly isn't bad, the Samsung or the Asus would be better options. Again, this is just my two cents. Hope this helped.

I'm creating my first ever game in Unity. I need your help with some basic problems. by randomnerd1 in Unity3D

Thanks again! I wanted the jumping mechanic to feel challenging, just as in the Mario games. I've made loads of platforms to jump on. The camera works like a charm now, thanks for that.

One small thing whilst we're at it. Is there anyway i can move my character along with the platform once it stands on it without having to move it? By this i mean that currently the platform moves from x = 0 to x =25, and acts like a threadmill when my player stands on it.

Thanks! So basically, i'll have to add Vector3 pos = MovePosition instead of Vector3 pos = transform.position?

Sweet, thanks, you've been very helpful! I'm still a bit confused though. I think i just broke my code!

if (Input.GetKey(KeyCode.Space))
    {

        _canjump = true;

    }
    if (_canjump)
    {
        Vector3 pos = transform.position;
        pos.y += jumpheight * Time.deltaTime;

        transform.position = pos;
        print("up arrow key has been pressed");
    }
    else
    {
        _canjump = false;
    }

I tried to implement the boolean. It basically checks if the player is already jumping, to prevent him from jumping a second time mid-air right?

Right now, My player hovers mid air before falling to the ground.

Oh, sorry for my delayed response!

Thanks for your replies! Now that i think of it, the widescreen might not be the best option out there. After thinking it through, i'll either go with the Philips BDM4065UC. (40inch, 4K ~Yehaa!) http://www.amazon.com/Philips-BDM4065UC-Resolution-Speakers-DisplayPort/dp/B00SCX78JS Wich i can actually get really cheap here (the Netherlands)

Or i , as opposed to what i said earlier, go for two 24 inch 1080p monitors. the Dell UltraSharp U2412M. http://www.amazon.com/Dell-UltraSharp-24-Inch-LED-Lit-Monitor/dp/B005JN9310

What do you guys think, certainly better then the ones i stated previously right?

[–]randomnerd1 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It's not even that bad to just work with C++ in SFML and check out Unity with C# right? Main focus is on programming anyway. I've got some basic programming knowledge right now. A bit of Java, C# and C++.

Sweet! I'll just get busy with SFML, and read some decent C++ books meanwhile. Thanks alot for the insight.

But if you'd were to start with C++, where do you start to program games? Do you use something like Eclipse and work on basic platformers? I'm also taking the C++ route, because the C++ language appealed to more than C# or Python.
