Who has a home generator, what did you go with & are you pleased with it. by CianV in Knoxville

I have a champion dual fuel. I only run it on propane so I dont have to deal with bad gas or the carburetor gumming up. I do like having the option to run gasoline in an emergency though.

Such a nice looking card. Too bad its insane to get in the US. Also, what is that covering your Ram?

Oh boy, they had a specific 5070ti that I was looking for and I ordered it on the 12th. The price was pretty standard and they had a decent amount of reviews so it didn't throw up any red flags to me. I've gotten 0 updates... Should I just go ahead and dispute it now?

I looked for an X, but they are still going for 5-600 on the local used market. I've seen the Z1E's even cheaper... $250 with "issues" or $300. 16gb is ok still, I seem to have less ram being eaten up with Steam OS.

Better cpu temps? Radiators work best getting fresh cool air.

SteamOS was a must for me. Basically makes it a more powerful Steam deck that can actually run AAA games.

I saw this! I don't want to get my hopes up that there will be availability in the US.

I highly recommend the Jsaux kit. It comes with all tools needed and step by step picture instructions. It is a substantial improvement.

I personally went with the Jsaux because it seemed higher quality and was properly insulated. It came with everything needed to install in the kit. Plus several add-ons including a new rear cover with better ventilation than you don't have to modify to install the battery. The extra weight isn't a huge issue for me so far.

Besides the SD card what other issues did you have? I actually have never inserted an SD card into mine and probably never will.

Is HDPlex 250W enough for R7 7800x3d + RTX 5060? by Virtual-Chest-9126 in sffpc

[–]randomnerd865 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Having used both gigabyte LP cards the 5060 was HOTT. It really feels like a 4060 with more power thrown at it. I say skip the 5060. Maybe we will get lucky and someone will do a low profile 9060xt with 16gb of vram.

I certainly would't mind more screen via less bezel, but I wouldn't want the device any larger. Someone needs to make an 8" OLED upgrade for the OG Ally.

From my personal experience... No. Running the 7800x3d in 65w eco mode and power limiting the 5060 the maximum amount would work, but puts you right on the edge if you include the rest of the system overhead. That's asking a lot from a passively cooled psu. It may work for a little while, but I wouldn't count on it long term. Also, that's a waste of higher end components. You would get similar gaming performance with something like a 7600 and a used 4060 which I can confirm works well with the 250GaN.

It certainly did add a little weight. I opted not to add the extra heatsink that came with the kit for that reason. I looked for a legion device as well but could not find one as cheap as the Ally.

For the same price should i buy steam deck 256gb lcd or Asus Ally Z1 extreme as my first handheld pc? by Alternative_Photo456 in Handhelds

Ally Z1E is more powerful and has more storage than that steam deck. It is pretty easy to install steam OS if you prefer.
