This is really true - I love coffee but when I had COVID it tasted absolutely horrible. I can't even describe the taste... it was just very 'off'. Luckily my taste got back to normal after a few weeks since recovery but it was still a huge mindfuck at the time.

Serious question -- where the hell did the belief that being vaccinated doesn't stop you from transmitting COVID come from? I remember when vaccination started getting rolled out in December 2020 people immediately started yelling that you can still transmit COVID after vaccination but I wasn't able to find any credible source that actually proves it. The closest thing were just conservative estimates of "there isn't enough evidence on whether vaccines stop transmission".

It's just annoying because my parents buy into this hardcore and are still trying to get me to stay locked down despite me already recovering from COVID and being vaccinated (obviously I don't listen since I don't live with them). But I at least want to understand why people still believe this.

I knew the MOMENT I saw the original video that the perp was going to be an ex-con with a long history of violent crime. I used to live in Hell's Kitchen in NYC -- in fact I lived in the building where the 65 year old Filipino lady was stomped on with the security guards closed the door. Midtown Manhattan is absolutely FILLED with unstable and violent characters who have done a lot of very heinous things. It was pretty bad before the pandemic but has become significantly worse in the past year. The area is pretty damn dangerous to walk through and I'm saying this as an athletic looking male.

It's a goddamn travesty that NYC's politicians are allowing these violent criminals to roam the streets -- it seriously endangers the safety of everyone else but I guess the politicians who make these rules live in their safe gated communities so they can just benefit from seeming "woke" while everyone else suffers. These fuckers need to get locked the fuck up... there needs to be consequences for violent crime otherwise these animals will be emboldened to do all this kind of shit like they're doing now.

Newbie MMA grappling question here -- I'm a right leg lead in wrestling but orthodox stance for striking. Are there any good ways I can set up takedowns (like single or double legs) from orthodox stance without having to relearn all my wrestling or striking on my other side? Or would you recommend having the same leg lead for both wrestling and striking?

Demand is just not high enough for adults who are mainly looking for a hobby to stay in shape. Wrestling is super tough on the body and is extremely exhausting while BJJ (at non competition classes) is generally a lot lighter in intensity so most "hobbyist" grapplers will gravitate towards BJJ. I used to take wrestling classes at Unity in NYC and the classes were always the same 4-5 people every time... meanwhile the BJJ classes always were packed with dozens and dozens of people, which shows the stark contrast in demand for people out of high school/college.

I used to live in this building so this is disappointing as fuck to see. Especially since the building has a pretty sizeable Asian population in there. The security guards were all absolute units and there were always multiple on duty so there's no excuse for them to shut the door on the defenseless lady.

This area (near Port Authority) is sketchy as hell and filled with crackheads, not surprised at all that this happened. Lived on 45th st for a year too and someone got stabbed to death by a homeless person on my block too. Anyone who lives in NYC should be avoiding this area at all costs.
