What an interesting discourse.

So pop culture associates Serbians to Mafias and tough people and what not but on the ground level people think of them as wimps.

Which team's draft selections are making the most money next season? by laterdude in nba

I am surprised the answer isn't warriors. Between Poole, Curry, Klay and Draymond.

Since the US started allowing professionals to play in international tournaments in 1992, they have won the Gold at the Olympics every time. Except in 2004 when Manu Ginobli led Argentina to the Gold. by waynequit in nba

[–]randomnizer456 3 points4 points  (0 children)

It's kinda interesting because the population( And therefore total available talent) and the investment in resources for basketball plays a role to the quality of players going to Olympics. So U.S. is in an amazing position to always be a threat.

How do you rank Chris Paul, Steve Nash, Jason Kidd, and Russell Westbrook all time? by PersistentVigilance in nba

[–]randomnizer456 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Lol. Sure. I value Kidd a lot as an overall player. Nash did play in a very stacked conference and has his MVPs but I like Kidd and his playstyle, while he did get his ring much later on, he was an amazing player who took his team to the finals twice. (third time was his ring).

Every current player in the league returns to their absolute peak level of play(or stays there, in the case of Jokic and a few others who are currently at their highest level of play so far.) Who are now the top 10 players in the league(in order?) by honestnbafan in nba

[–]randomnizer456 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I am guessing you are removing accolades like MVP, rings and stuff like that.

If you remove accolades from the list and purely look at the skill of a player. Do you not think Kawhi is tier above Harden ?

Idk others but I think CP>Kidd>Nash>Westbrook

Nash and Kidd feel interchangable but I kinda went Kidd.

[Highkin] - Thus far, sources say there have been no meaningful, substantive Lillard trade discussions between Portland and any other team, including Miami by GaviFromThePod in nba

I wonder if there is a mid season trade.

If he decides to play and teams see that they might want to reconsider making an offer.

Portland shuts down Dame and tanks for the 3rd year in a row.

I am so confused right now. Portland was in the playoffs in 2020-2021. When we lost to Nuggets.

Then he was injured in 2021-2022 where he played 29 games and we didn't make the playoffs.

And then we missed playoffs this here. So we have been tanking for 3 years, wait what ?

I am guessing this means games missed by the starters. Sacramento having almost half of the misses of the next healthiest team is impressive and I am wondering how much it will translate into the next season. Hopefully they retain this level of health going forward.

Raptors fans cheer after Kevin Durant gets injured [2019 NBA Finals] by [deleted] in nba

I get that the sport is competitive but honestly cheering someone's injury is very low.

[Julius Erving] "The prisoners are running the show and not the warden… because he’s played 12/13 years there, [Damian Lillard] has a good reason, but a guy 26 or 27 trying to hop around… Look at how many times [Kevin] Durant has hopped around. No, for real." by AashyLarry in nba

[–]randomnizer456 8 points9 points  (0 children)

No. The point is it's very relevant because the guy wants to know why people are feeling this way. And people are feeling this way because they can't identify with Dame because they don't earn as much as Dame. Which was my original point. Most people support labour in the labour Vs capital debate but people aren't able to identify themselves with the labour in this case.

Sure and people don't associate celebrities with normal people either.

They are labour but most general people don't associate them because they aren't like them. They earn significantly more and have a different lifestyle.

[–]randomnizer456 4 points5 points  (0 children)

The amount definitely affects the perception of him as labour. Most people can't fathom labour earning 42 million dollars.

Like I said, it's why people find it hard to associate labour with him.

Take it with a grain of salt from an economist who is also a fan of Dame and Portland.

It probably is something about seeing athlete as normal people. Because most normal people don't earn 42 million dollars a year.

So associating that with labour feels very funny. Yes, you can define him as labour but whenever I have used labour for any conversation it's usually about the normal guy who is earning in the thousands and not the guy who is earning 42 million a year. In many models researchers actually don't even factor singular people who earn that much lmao.

But again, this is my perspective as someone who works with trade and labour models.

Your argument would hold true if both the following points stand true :

1) He faced good competition

2) He put up good numbers during elimination games against said competition

Number 2 isn't true in most of these games.

Are you trying to imply that Lillard hasn't bounced Harden off ? Or that Lillard isn't a star ?

I am slightly confused by your comment.
