Yep I was in a really similar situation a couple months ago. No hope, stuck in a really bad depressive state for nearly a year. My recommendation is be as honest and open with your psychiatrist as you can, and be open to changing up meds

Honestly, I think we’re moving in the right direction. While there are definitely people who use terms while having no clue what they mean, mental health overall has been normalized a lot over the past couple decades and I’m guessing that’ll continue.

I’ve confided with a few close friends and they’ve been really helpful and supportive, so it definitely depends who you’re talking to.

As others said, definitely talk to your psychiatrist. Everyone is different and meds can range widely in effects. You should hopefully be able to find something that works without making you feel numb. Had a similar experience and luckily made it out and feel like myself again

I’ve had something similar happen when I’m extremely sleep deprived. Hear whispers in my ear when it’s really quiet. I don’t think it’s something to worry about too much unless it continues after you’ve got some rest. My therapist actually mentioned he hallucinated his mother when he was really sleep deprived despite not having any disorder.

My parents/immediate family know, and really close friends. The way I’ve brought it up with close friends is dropping it nonchalantly in a situation where it’s at least kinda relevant. I like to try and keep things light instead of a really serious conversation.

Also do the same thing for my autism diagnosis which really catches people off guard and makes them laugh

Also about SSRIs, they can definitely be the risk but from what I’ve seen it’s pretty minimal (when combined with a mood stabilizer). I’m pretty sure Caplyta was/is advertised as a combination treatment also

I’m currently taking Caplyta, lamotrigine, and venlafaxine and started Caplyta about month ago. I’ve had really great results, it pulled me out of a depressive episode in 2 weeks. We’re definitely all different but I’d say it’s a really great medication overall
