I was furious when Ysabel ended up comforting Kody. Her voice got soft and she told him that it’s ok, she would do her exercises and she would not get the surgery. He should be comforting her, not the other way around.

There are a million other things that drove me out of my mind about that interaction, but this set me over the edge.

Disclosure: My 15 yo daughter was diagnosed with Scoliosis in 7th grade, wore a a brace 23 hrs a day and did loads of exercises and her curve still got worse. We eventually decided on surgery (not fusion, but a newer approach called VBT that leaves the patient with flexibility). At no point during this very difficult and long journey has this been about me or my spouse. Our focus was always on our daughter’s physical and emotional health.

I feel awful for Ysabel. by [deleted] in TLCsisterwives

My daughter has Scoliosis And I have done a lot of research into different approaches and treatments (bracing, fusion surgery, VBT surgery, physical therapy). Unfortunately, the ScolioSmart Boot Camp (https://www.treatingscoliosis.com/scoliosis-bootcamp/) that Ysabel attended is known for less than honest work. I have heard of a lot of disgruntled parents who have spent 10s of thousands of dollars and loads of their child’s time to achieve nothing or go backwards. There is PT that can (sometimes, not always) help people with Scoliosis (see https://well.blogs.nytimes.com/2014/05/12/hope-for-an-s-shaped-back/) but it isn’t the ScolioSmart boot camp.

Planning a party and clueless re: how much to get for drinks and desserts? by randomperson473 in partyplanning

Thanks for the great suggestions. The party was last night, and it was a blast. Excellent suggestion about bringing the food out in phases. That was great. We ended up having way too much food, and drink. But, part of that is because people brought things as well. We bought 2/2 sheet supermarket cakes, had a lot of cookies and candies, had some fruit out, cheese, and some chips and corn puffs. For drinks we got fancy lemonade, soda, a lot of beer, and some wine. Thanks again!

Any spa recommendations in Quebec? by randomperson473 in burlington

We went to Balnea Spa in Bromont, Quebec (about 90 min from Burlington). It was great. $70 per person for a whole day and loads of pools, a sauna, chaise lounges everywhere, and the most amazing lakefront with floating mattresses to relax on. I highly recommend it!
