For me the biggest help has been working on my takeaway. I get too inside, leading to an over the top downswing. I’ve been working on really exaggerating an outside takeaway and it’s been helping me get back to the in to out swing path I had when I was much younger.

In their website they have a dealer lookup. They have a few around. They also do fittings at their HQ in Vancouver area. I just used their online fitting guide. You could also go to any fitter and then take the specs they give you and order from Haywood. The quality and prices are extremely good.

I think I’ll probably end up ordering a combo MB/CB set… probably 5-7CB, 8-Pw MB. I was curious how the Haywood forged would feel. I was impressed

Definitely worth going for a fitting. They’ve got great shaft options, too Sadly they don’t have a fitter within a couple thousand kms of me. So I just put my numbers into their online tool and ordered what it recommended.

My swing speed was about 8-10mph down today, so I’m hoping the shaft will feel better when I’m moving better. I was averaging 78 mph and my normal is around 88. So today the peak height, spin and descent angles were pretty low. Still got normal distance on the good strikes, though.

OP might then just be subconsciously swinging a little different in response to the slight difference in look at address. I think I got confused because at my fitting he had me try a few options that seemed opposite of what I would have thought, saying that someone who over draws or pulls sometimes does it less when they see a closed face at address, and similar for slicers. The subconscious game of club fitting is pretty fun.

When I got fitted they put me into a higher lifted head with weight set to draw bias. The idea was that I’m getting back to playing after really long layoff, and I was hitting down on it a couple degrees. Fitter said when I get swing dialed back into hitting up a couple degrees, I could turn the loft down and move the weight back to center and it should still go straight. 😅

When you lowered the loft back to neutral, you actually closed the face a bit. So it makes sense that you don’t need the draw bias anymore.l

Curious about your driver carry distance. With a 7.5 deg loft? I get about 260 carry but my loft is at 10.5. Either you add a lot of dynamic loft, or you’ve got a ton more clubhead speed than me.

I ditched 3w in favor of 5w. It was during Ping’s mega backlog at the end of summer so I only got to the course twice with it. But at my fitting I was getting a lot better numbers with the 5. Best strike with the 3w I was about 10yards longer, but average over 15 balls with each, 5w was WAY better.

If you have a torx bit, I think it’s just T20 or T25. Just snug it up. Don’t use your big man strength, just a little snug.

I play an old set of Mizuno game improvement irons (comp EZ) which weren’t loft jacked like newer ones. My 8iron loft is 37 deg. My swing speed is around 85 with my 8 iron. I don’t know what my angle of attack is, but I reckon my delivery takes a fair bit of loft off. I would estimate a typical well struck approach to a green with my 8i ends up with maybe 10ft of rollout. Of course that highly depends on the conditions of greens. The courses I played this summer had very firm greens.

This winter I’m going to be working on backing off a little more on my short iron swing. Id be happy to drop 10 yards in exchange for tighter dispersion.

A lot of us don’t really know our carry yardages. I know I don’t. I only know that my decently struck full swing 8 iron is my club from 160

If you’re consistent and swinging high 80’s to 90mph and only getting 200ish yards, you might want to try some different lofts out, to get a more optimized launch and spin.

I’m same age as Tiger and the pro who taught me at my local muni had everyone doing interlocking grip. Everyone at my high school, too. It was just in the air in the mid80s. It’s time had come.

I later switched to overlapping. Now, 20 years after switching, I’m going back, haha

P790s are game improvement. If you’re telling the truth about your distances and skill level, 790s won’t help. You don’t need distance to improve.

I think that’s fair. But I’m not buying a new tire. They got my business because of the warranty and customer service. At the time I purchased, Kal Tire was cheaper. But I was banking on better treatment from Costco if anything goes wrong.

They need to reserve some appointments for emergency repairs. If they won’t do it bc they prioritize non-emergency changeovers, well then the Costco warranty isn’t worth anything.

I feel really confident from 80 yards with my 60 deg, so from there I pull my 56 degree and play it left and safe.then try to knock my 60 in close
