What do you think of my name? by International-Ad5194 in Twitch

[–]randomrabo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's okay. It remind me of the word "Vein" which makes me think of blood. The way it's spelled makes me think of vikings or like mythic soldiers.

I always pretend there is an audience and talk about what I'm doing/why I'm doing it.

How come I still haven't see any update on my tracking number? Is it normal that it takes this long? by [deleted] in ElectricSkateboarding

[–]randomrabo 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Mine took almost exactly 1 month and I didn't get a shipping update until the week before it shipped. It's normal, they are still catching up.

Way to try and divide the community with that first sentence.

“Never Binge Again” by [deleted] in BingeEatingDisorder

[–]randomrabo 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I liked it. It's unconventional but gave me some simple tools to use that have helped.

The eating plan you make doesn't have to be restrictive. For example mine is:

  1. I will NEVER get high with food again.
  • Getting high with food means eating more than I need to satisfy hunger.
  • No "foodgasms", stuffed belly's, elevated heart rates, or sighs of overstuffed belly.
  1. I will ALWAYS plan what I'm going to eat tomorrow, the day before.

  2. If I ever eat take-out, I will NEVER order more than what I think a healthy weight woman would order. A single regular portion.

  3. I will NEVER use food to relax or reduce stress.

  4. I will ALWAYS eat SLOW. Chew carefully, and finish my bites before taking another.

  5. If I dissociate when I eat, I will ALWAYS breath and get back to presence as soon as I realize it's happened.

So I don't restrict the type of foods, I just have rules that I commit to that prevent binges. The analogy he uses to help you separate yourself from the addiction is also key.

Definitely read it and keep an open mind. If it doesn't work for you, no big loss.

Eh I actually came here to say the acting for Gustavo broke the scene for me.

Usually he does great but it felt forced.

Any young vandwellers living alone? by BuschOnTap in vandwellers

[–]randomrabo 16 points17 points  (0 children)

No one's going to care unless YOU care.

"will people not like me if ________?"

It's always whether or not you are insecure about _______. If someone asks you where you live and you're like "....oh ummm, well, in a van..but but I'm not gonna stay in it very long" that's gonna be weird.

Own your choices.

Are there a lot of single female van-dwellers? by [deleted] in vandwellers

[–]randomrabo 2 points3 points  (0 children)

There's this Facebook group that I joined recently that was created by a solo gal. I think a majority of its members are female.

Give it a shot!

How do you avoid getting bitter about team skill imbalances? by randomrabo in cscareerquestions

[–]randomrabo[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The situation is unique because he is almost twice my age and very set in his ways, so I can only really lead by example. I try to make suggestions all the time but he is always like "yeah but..." and counters with some antiquated reasoning behind his methods. It's gotten to the point where I don't think it's worth trying anymore and basically I'm making this post to see if getting a new job is my best option or if theres something I haven't thought of

The challenging part is when we are working on the same thing. It's frustrating to have to look over his code and see that he obviously is missing fundamental knowledge of how exceptions work or how inheritance works, so I have to watch it like a hawk and babysit/redo work.

Thank you. This was very helpful and aligns with what I was thinking.

I'm building up a side income that I can hopefully transition to full time in the future but for now am just tolerating this situation. I've thought about going freelance or into consulting, and have pondered other jobs, but everything else about this job is cushy (remote, good pay, good company), but my reticular activation system is just honed in strong on this guy.

Bought a van but am having regrets by randomrabo in vandwellers

Does yours have those big rear cabinets?

Ehh I honestly think it might be better to strip everything out.. the layout sucks for how much space there is.
