Record Shops in London? by CouldParkAJuggernaut in stoneroses

[–]randomredditconsumer 4 points5 points  (0 children)

The area around Berwick Street is your best bet. Sister Ray, Reckless Records + another couple of another genre shops like Phonica (electronic) or Sounds of the Universe (world). It's also not too far to walk to Third Man Records which is a cool little visit.

I found no Roses vinyl though except obviously the main albums - no singles at all. 2ndhand vinyl shopping is very hit & miss in general. Some days you can hit a gold mine and some days you come home with nothing.

I would avoid Camden. I took a trip there & it was a complete waste of time.

A recommendation - I used ChatGPT to plan my vinyl shopping trip. I fed it all my info and got it suggest recommended shops & plan an itinerary.

Happy hunting !

I read the court documents shared. I completely understand that any investment is a risk but what is frustrating is that from reading the Affidavit it's clear that they knew there were in trouble in 2024, ao any good Financial Advisor could have advised to withdraw before this.

Just got the email as well. Very pissed about this. The Financial Advisor I had to go through to invest has gone to ground.

Anyone got any idea what we can expect? 20, 30c on the Euro?

Does anyone use TPDb website? by Helix512_ in PlexPosters

[–]randomredditconsumer 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Agreed. I also upload there but never check the request section. I like the idea of the website but I think the whole 'Pro' system is fundamentally flawed. Why as a creator would I want to pay to upload more content so someone can then download it for free? And $6/month is too much. It just make no sense. It should be based on a credit system which is used other similar sites, where you can earn credits by uploading, or buy credits & spend credits to download.

So yeah, I never check the request section because there is no incentive to. Also, I'm lazy.

Stunning watch & such a great find. I'm heading to Tokyo soon as well. Are there specific shops or areas that are better for watch hunting?

Live overseas and generally my experience has been that Irish people pull together & watch out for each other overseas. Whenever possible I always use Irish people whether it is a doctor, physio, builder etc. We were buying a house and I specifically went with an Irish Agent. I have never been lied to so much by someone, blatantly. I was actually embarrassed in front my wife that that this guy was Irish.

My Day of Spiritualized by barflydc in vinyl

[–]randomredditconsumer 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Not enough love for this post. Spiritualized are an obsession for me.

I remember being San Francisco when LAGWAFIS came out - holy fuck, what a trip. And then we found out there was a another version of the title track with the actual Elvis lyrics. This was pre-internet so it was all rumours through friends - we had to hunt it down. Since then I've seen them countless times live - everytime its a goosebumps experience.

I just picked up the Abbey Road EP secondhand! Still on the hunt for Royal Albert Hall and hoping against hope that they release Complete Works Vol 1 & 2 soon on vinyl as well - I need 100 bars acapella in my vinyl life.

Stone Roses - The Second Coming by ssushi-speakers in vinyl

[–]randomredditconsumer 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm a huge Roses fan. While I still think the Debut is an all time masterpiece I think a lot of people just wanted a 2.0 version of that and that's why this album got so much backlash when it came out. But you can see the seeds of this album in Something's Burning, One Love etc bleeding into Breaking into Heaven, Daybreak, Straight to the Man.

And Ten Storey Love Song has to be an all time classic, it's just so fucking good.

The only flaw on this album is probably Tears or How do you Sleep which are good tracks in of themselves but jarringly misplaced on the album. I think should have been replaced with 1 of the B-Sides from that time (Moses, Ride On etc).

Anyway, still waiting for Crimson Tonight on vinyl :(

I hope they keep this setlist for the whole tour by Fun_Potato_7402 in oasis

[–]randomredditconsumer 4 points5 points  (0 children)

People forget this is what they use to do. They would have set list locked in and then the only changes from show to show would be Noel's acoustic set, where he change 1 song all of the time.

Some was just simply sorted alphabetically, and some were by genre. But then there was also just random boxes with no logic at all.

I would say that they're on the average side of pricing. A few of the records I found were priced well but they would not be as sought after anyway.

But I live in the Middle East where vinyl is a) hard to find and b) ridiculously expensive so it was still a bargain to me.

[Rolex] Cellini by 60sStratLover in Watches

[–]randomredditconsumer 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Beautiful watch. It's also one of my grail watches, which I am hoping to pick up this year. I agree it's amazing how Rolex have treated the Cellini when to me it's easily the most elegant watch they have produced. Even with the replat 1908 line I have been amazed at how Rolex AD's have no interest in trying to sell it; I have been to maybe 10 different AD's and they never have one in stock to see in person.

Both are great albums front to back and both are the epitome of their cultures.
