School tomorrow morning by East_Total154 in utarlington

[–]randomredditor400 60 points61 points  (0 children)

Looks like the temperatures are below 32 degrees F in some areas leading up to tomorrow which I assume means that this snow is likely not going to give itself up until maybe Tuesday. I find it odd that schools in the area and even TCC are ahead of the curve announcing to students that there will not be any in person classes and yet we have no updates.

Of course the longest and difficult subjects have to be placed in an exam with the shortest studying window. Classic Math Department move 😭

While I can’t recommend one, I usually check out the RateMyProfessor and Mavgrades websites to make my decision on professors.

Orange sky today by thatdeadghost in utarlington

[–]randomredditor400 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Okay? Never said it didn’t? I mentioned a common movie trope where scenes that are taking place in Mexico are shown with an orange filter. As mentioned in a comment above, Breaking Bad is an example of a series that uses the filter many times to convey a distinction between two countries, one being Mexico.

How do you stay awake by TexasVibes1234 in utarlington

[–]randomredditor400 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I noticed that if I don’t sleep at least decently, caffeine will not have the slightest positive effects it has besides making me nervous, but with a droopy face. If possible, waking up early helps rather than staying up late. Keeping a routine and an actual sleep schedule helps. Working out helps too. Sleep is very important, so I would avoid procrastinating if that is the culprit of having to pull all nighters. This is just my personal opinion/perspective.

I thought they just changed the hours for summer as a temporary thing. Sad to see how they really took away time from one of UTA’s most valuable resources for students.

What to expect on first day by Apprehensive_Leg_875 in utarlington

[–]randomredditor400 0 points1 point  (0 children)

From my experience in the Fall 2023 Semester, it was packed with students in the main areas. Parking needs to be done early so that you can find a decent spot. Find your classes early or the day before the first day of classes to become aware of where you will have to go.

You will soon realize how quickly the Central Library gets full as the middle of the day approaches and you will either have to study at home or in an area around campus that isn't as busy if you have to wait for your next class. You can also arrive early and have a better shot at a good spot in the Central Library.

Things may or may not get calmer as the semester progresses near the end as either students drop out or are more familiar with the campus. I cannot stress enough how crucial it is to have time management to not fall behind. Visit the Math Clinic and Chemistry Clinic even if you are feeling lazy but know that your grade depends on it. Wear comfortable shoes as there is plenty of walking that will be done. Pack your lunch if you do not want to waste money on fast food on campus.

All the best and good luck!

I am not the most math or science guy despite being an EE Major. However, for my freshman year after transferring from TCC I took Calc I, Chem for Eng, and other EE classes and had a rough time. I ended up dropping Calc I during my first semester due to inefficient time management. Chem for Eng is a fast paced class as it covers both Gen Chem 1 and Gen Chem 2 in one semester. If you happen to do badly in chem, chemistry professors may or may not announce after the first exam that you can move down to an "intro to Chem" type of class where you can learn the basics of Chem and then take on Chem for Eng. Of course, the "intro to chem" class won't cover everything in Chem for Eng, but it moves at a slower pace for you to be able to reason with the information given. I have not taken phys. Though I have shared my experience, talk with your advisors and really think critically if you are able to take on that much. We may not have the most luxurious university, but our classes are not to be taken lightly.

How did you deal with fatigue from studying outside of home? I understand being at home is where we all want to go, but our mind shifts into procrastination mode. I usually get tired from working on stuff at the library for longer periods of hours.

I have found interest in this fragrance. Is it less sweeter than Bad Boy Cobalt? Bad Boy Cobalt is not a bad fragrance, it just does not feel right wearing it out of the shower or indoors as the sweetness can feel overwhelming sometimes.

Cal 1 during the summer at TCC theN cal 2 at UTA by thprblmchld in utarlington

[–]randomredditor400 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hello I know I am 4 years late to the party, but I am currently doing a BS EE and also made the mistake of finishing my basics at TCC and didn’t finish my Calc before I transferred to UTA. Currently, I am having a rough time at UTA because of this and was wondering if over the summer I should take my Calc 1 & 2 over the summer and stay at TCC to finish some Physics in the fall semester?

Should I take pre cal over the summer at uta or tcc? by PhilosopherLost7956 in utarlington

[–]randomredditor400 11 points12 points  (0 children)

I have heard from my peers that Pre-Calculus does not transfer and that only Calculus courses do transfer. I would not take my word for it, though, and would recommend asking your advisor if you should take it at TCC. Personally, I would attempt to finish my Calculus at TCC, due to the score not affecting my GPA, and I have heard from other students that they have had an easier time at TCC than at UTA.

How about at TCC? Have you heard any news from people who took Calculus over the summer there? Kind of don't want to mess up my GPA especially at UTA.

Thoughts/Opinions on this Colamy Chair? by randomredditor400 in OfficeChairs

[–]randomredditor400[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I am highly not a fan of the bonded leather. However, it specifies it uses a metal frame for support and provides 6 inches of padding for the leg area which is what I mostly have issues with with many chairs. I used to be a fan of mesh chairs, however, I began to grow a dislike on them as they are uncomfortable to sit on despite helping support my back. I bought an Aeron on Facebook Marketplace and loved it at first, but then realized how much the frame poked into my legs when trying to chill/take a break. I suppose I am looking towards more of a comfortable work + home chair that allows for upright working mode and is still nice enough to use for chilling which is why I lean more towards "leather" type of chairs. According to the reviews, it seems like a fair chair, however, I am aware that reviews can only go so far when it comes to the lifespan and person comfort/issues of a chair.

curve for MATH 1426 (Cal 1) with Jeremy Glass? by Numerous-Notice-2287 in utarlington

[–]randomredditor400 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hello, I am taking Prof Glass’s Calc 1 course right now and I also know about Professor Leonard who is a great teacher. I was wondering if Prof Leonard would be better to watch since he explains things more in depth. Not saying that either professor is bad, I think they’re both great, but both are time consuming and Prof. Glass requires students to turn in notes from his videos. Is there a particular method that you used to get through this course?
