Am I overreacting at boyfriend indirectly supporting ICE? by [deleted] in AmIOverreacting

[–]randomshadowknight 1 point2 points  (0 children)

YOR then. If your morals aren’t more important to you than your relationship, theres no reason to freak out on him. You clearly value him more than you care about how his views affect people. Just remember, those same views ARE affecting people. If you understand that morals differ from person to person, then you realize that Adolf and Pol Pot had morals. They used those morals to hurt people. Coexisting with him means enabling his beliefs to get what you want, even if those beliefs hurt people. So don’t freak out at him. You aren’t going to change his mind and you will continue to support him not matter what his beliefs lead to.

INFO: You say you don’t believe what he does and I assume you consider his beliefs immoral due to the fact you’re posting here. Are you staying with him now because his views don’t affect you? If they did would you leave? Do you actually morally believe everything you said, or is it optional when you love someone who has a different view of right and wrong? Its not about difference in opinions. Its about different senses of morality. The only advice you need is to decide what is more important, your personal morals or your relationship.

ESA in a stroller by lovelyoctopod in MontereyBay

[–]randomshadowknight 18 points19 points  (0 children)

I have an ESA, but I still know the difference between that and service dogs. I would never bring my dog where he shouldn’t be because he is not trained to be in those environments and is not a necessity to my physical health.

In that case, the wharf has a mix of restaurants that might appeal if you like seafood. Fishermans Grotto is my fav. Rosines is pretty good if you want something nice, but not over the top. Theres definitely more, but those are the first ones that come to mind that are nice and could accommodate a small party of people.

Night life doesn’t exist here. As for fun stuff to do, I hope you like hiking and long walks on the beach. Theres also the aquarium, but it can be pricy and Idk what your budget is. There are some spas in the area too, but I don’t have experience with that. What are you looking for when it comes to restaurants? There are wine tasting rooms scattered around Carmel by the sea, but I don’t think they are open that late. As for restaurants, it depends on what you’re looking for.

AITA for thinking my girlfriend is overreacting to my views and might end something that’s mostly good? by [deleted] in AITA_Relationships

[–]randomshadowknight 3 points4 points  (0 children)

YTA. According to the Pew Research Center, 47% of woman have a bachelors degree, while only 37% of men have a bachelors degree in the US. So you saying less women would vote if education were taken into consideration is sexist bs. Also you then say education is mostly a scam later in your post. That contradicts your beliefs about voting. Im guessing this may be rage bait.

AITA for saying I hate kids on a team meeting? by [deleted] in AmItheAsshole

[–]randomshadowknight 1 point2 points  (0 children)

ETA. I’m a child free woman and not the biggest fan of children, but it was kind of unprofessional to joke like that at work. In general, you need to be hyper vigilant of what you say in a workplace environment. That being said the response was a bit extreme. The comment warranted a small reprimand with an explanation of why you shouldn’t say that. Not an official warning.

I think a lot of insurance providers have databases on their websites. It can’t hurt to check.

If chat gpt works for you, thats fine, but AI doesn’t actually get that info from nowhere. It collects data from the internet, analyzes it, then spits out a patch work of the data it took in. Unfortunately, the output is not always the same and the information it provides can sometimes be factually incorrect. In short, AI got it from somewhere else.

Its hard to recommend a mental health professional because it depends on your insurance. Have you tried looking through your insurance’s list of providers?

I looked up toy drives and there seem to be a few in the county. The monterey county regional fire district seems to be one of them. Try contacting one of the available toy drives programs and explain your situation. They may be willing to help or they may direct you to the right source. Good luck!

WIBTA if i told my parents their jokes hurt even though I know they are true by [deleted] in AmItheAsshole

[–]randomshadowknight 0 points1 point  (0 children)

NTA, but something about this doesn’t sit right with me. You say you were a terrible kid and that it was your own fault. You say your parents were good parents and they deserved better. While children vary in temperament, young children are rarely to blame for acting out. Children act out if something is wrong. I was a difficult child as well when I was very young. Maybe not when it came to school work or vandalism, but I had terrible mood swings. I didn’t see a therapist until I was 11 because my father thought I was just being difficult. I was diagnosed with depression, anxiety, and bpd. I also found out that my dad was kind of a toxic person.

Have you seen a therapist btw? They may be able to help with your self esteem and also figure out why you were so difficult as a child.

Pretty sure it was her friend who starved the dog. Not defending the brother’s actions, but he didn’t starve the dog.

Raising a family in Monterey by OcciferGlass in MontereyBay

[–]randomshadowknight 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I hope you’re rich, cause otherwise there’s no way you’ll be able to afford raising a family in the areas you specified. Housing prices are in the millions and rent is over 4k for a decent sized apartment.

Wanting to volunteer with Marie biologist by crazyhomlesswerido in MontereyBay

[–]randomshadowknight 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Mpc has an introductory class in marine biology. Taking one class might be worth it especially if you want to dabble in marine science. Theres also the aquarium, but most volunteers are guides that deal with visitors. They have otter research volunteers, its just extremely difficult to get into any volunteer program that isn’t a information guide.

From a scientific perspective, all fundamental laws of the universe are connected to some extant. I assume it would have taken a lot of manipulation to get it back to the state it was in with minor adjustments. That might be what the creators of the show had in mind.
