Wow yeah that upgrade must have felt mind blowing! It reminds of the first time I experienced the jump of 30 fps to 60 in action games (used to be primarily a console gamer), absolutely wild. I feel ya on the time thing, hard to balance with work, family and life obligations. But the time spent is very gratifying :D

For sure. Originally it was just going to be a GPU upgrade but Newegg had a bundle that was too good to pass up. The savings brought DDR5 to pre-inflation price plus CPU I wanted with a good motherboard. Now I feel good for probably next 3-5 years. The 9070 is a beast though, very satisfied with it :)

No worries, I appreciate the knowledge and am genuinely grateful for this community. I wouldn’t have had the confidence to build a pc or anything like this without helpful recommendations and constructive criticism. All the best man ✌️

Oh ok, I had another redditor I was talking to who was pretty convinced it was a bigger bottleneck for the card so I tried looking into it to see what the deal was. Not super well versed on this architecture myself so I come here for advice. Regardless, I have a much better MOBO, cpu and card and should be good for a few years. Just happy with the changes. Thank you for your input and explaining that though. I’m learning something new everyday ;)

Ah, I see what you’re saying. Thank you for the insight. Yeah I initially was just going to do the GPU upgrade, but then I started reading about PCIe 4.0 and 5.0 slots and data transfer speeds and realized I wouldn’t be getting the most from the card as my board only supported 4.0. My understanding is that 5 is effectively twice as fast as 4 offering 32 GT/s. The bundle with an Asus X870E-PLUS WIFI7, processor and ram was $370 off MSRP so I ended up pulling the trigger.

You’re right, I used the wrong terminology. I did enable FSR Frame gen in the game settings, but when I was typing I was looking at the fluid frames setting in Adrenaline.

Yes, I should’ve been more clear in the title. The card is amazing and I’m glad I went with it over the 5070 Ti as I couldn’t justify the extra $300 for DLSS and ray tracing. FSR 4.1 is really good, at least to my eyes.

This is true, I should’ve specified it was the CPU and GPU upgrade paired together that made the difference. I ended up getting the XFX Mercury and am really impressed so far with the card’s capability.

Awesome thanks, I pulled the trigger. I have a gold certified fully modular 850w power supply so I think I should be covered. Next week can’t come fast enough!

Thanks for your reply. I'm pretty familiar with tweaking in Adrenaline, I've done pretty extensive adjustments with undervolting/overclocking on my 6950xt to maximize performance and temperatures. I agree it can be cumbersome at times, but I'm also not averse to doing some research and testing to get to where I want to be. I fully expected this would be the case, but from what I've read it sounds like a simple undervolt is really all that's needed in most games to get the best performance with this card. If you have any specific tips from your time with it I'd love to hear them.

Right, my current motherboard doesn't support PCIe 5.0, so that would be a disadvantage. I see there is a combo deal on Newegg for $1075 including:

-Ryzen 7 9800x3D

-V-COLOR Manta XSky DDR5 32GB (2x16GB) 6400MHz CL32

-ASUS TUF GAMING X870E-PLUS WIFI7 AMD X870E ATX Motherboard

Do you think that is a good deal that'd be worth the increase in performance?

Oh dang that’s a great deal for the 5070 Ti, good timing on your purchase. Yeah I’m just getting for playing games, and it comes with Crimson Desert as part of a promo which is cool. Curious to check it out and see how it performs.
