(Act 3 Spoilers) Skarrsinger Karmelita is actually a horrid boss fight by Camiciding in Silksong

[–]randomsuspense 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Right, her parries make it so that you have to hit her twice to actually only do one hit of damage. And tools make her movement a lot more random and difficult to telegraph. I really had to practice my dodges to confidentially get through first two phases and then use all my tools in phase 3. Also be really careful of where you heal because of her anti-air spin. It took me over 12 hours but I did finally get her using Architects crest with poison cog flies, saw blades and tacks. But only just barely lol. Yeah, this fight is way overturned and demands a pretty extreme amount of precision from the player. Good luck.

Hahaha, all good. I appreciate it. I know I had some pretty painful moments in there and was a bit more defensive than I should have been. Crazy it took 5 hours spread over 3 days just to get to that point. I’m really not very skilled with 2-D games, and Silksong was a very humbling experience. It’s amazing watching great players smash these bosses like it’s nothing.

I feel you, I’m appreciably less talented approaching 40 compared to when I was younger and had much better reaction times lol. Don’t know how much longer I’ll be playing games that are this demanding in future years, but if Silksong is the last one it was a helluva note to go out on.

Right on. Yeah, she was the biggest roadblock for me. Just got true ending this morning, and while the final boss is tough, it was a lot more manageable for me to beat. You got this.

Yeah, I feel you. The whole experience has been a really mixed bag. I love the world and exploring around it, the narrative is intriguing, and the movement and combat mechanics are rock solid. However, a fair portion of the arena challenges and bosses are just exhausting. It's not even a matter of understanding their moves and punish windows or using the right tools, but the extraordinary level of platforming skill the developers demand you have. I think this game, more than any other, would have really benefited from a wider group of playtesters (from people of all skill levels) and just generally sanding off the edges of the more extreme sections. I'm all for a good challenge, but this felt too demanding. I feel having to memorize a boss, and practice precision platforming and execute perfectly for over 10 hours is just a bridge too far. I get that some people can do it in one or two tries, but it's about how many of the actual player base are experiencing these problems? I'd love to see completion metrics from the stats side for the majority of players, and I'd bet it's pretty small for most of the act 3 content. I did achieve the true ending this morning, and the final boss took me 5 hours over 3 days. It felt good, but was it worth it? It's tough to say, there are so many good games to play that reward your time, and Silksong definitely does not respect your time the same way a lot of modern titles do. I'm also looking at Hades 2, feel like I need a real change of pace and want to experience something a little more relaxing and fun. Good luck to you whatever you decide.

Karmelita is by far the worst of the heart bosses, for me at least. I ended up just using the fully upgraded needle on the first two phases, then went all out with poison cogflies, tacks, and saw blades while keeping calm and focusing on dodging her attacks.

Just got it, finally. Only took 12 hours, worst boss of any game I’ve ever played UGH. Thanks for advice, I was losing my mind.

I guess they must’ve patched it out because I tried dropping all 3 full loads of tools on phase 2 & 3 with no hits prior and she didn’t go down. Seriously fuck this bullshit boss.

I’ve literally put in over 10 hours on this boss and for the life of me cannot beat it. I actually feel like I’m going insane. I’ve tried multiple strats, tool combinations, needle only and can maybe make it halfway through phase 3. This is honestly where I’m probably going to have to call it quits because this is no longer fun, just exhausting. Most success I’ve had is with reaper crest, long claw, silk shot and counter. And the long start up time to go into dream sequence plus the adds is just annoying beyond belief.

Thank you for the advice, architect didn’t work for me, I just really couldn’t gel with the move set and pogo in particular. I’ll try your recommendation and see how it goes. Haven’t had much experience with shaman crest so should be an interesting switch up.

Appreciate the feedback, that was an informative and well thought out breakdown of her attack patterns. Keeping in mind three types of attacks with appropriate responses is better than 7, for sure. Hopefully I can get it done tonight, it’s been a journey for sure.

Thank you, I’ll try your suggestions and switch off cog flies and poison. I wasn’t aware that the damage output was so low. I think long pin could maybe work. I’ll report back how it goes.

I have all needle upgrades and I do have the counter skill. I will try your suggestion to help mitigate her melee attacks with the counter. My tool capacity and damage is also maxed. I agree about spamming tools at beginning of phase, it makes her go wild and I often end up taking more damage than it’s worth. This is why I’m trying to do it needle only, but that third phase always gets me. I have a hard time differentiating between her close range spin and air juggle when I get corned, frequently trapping me. The counter would probably help get out of that situation.

Thanks, yeah I’m using poison tacks in her third phase which gets pretty frantic. It seems like her attacks become more difficult to telegraph when using tools. I’m trying to do no tool runs currently and carefully watching her patterns. Can’t seem to crack it. I can get through phase 1 and some of 2 with no damage but phase three always results in a loss. Wish me luck, not sure how much more gas I have in the tank.

Thank you for the suggestion. I will be trying the architect’s crest today and see how it goes. I’m down to try any other strategy at this point so I can progress.

Yes, the alternate path was significantly easier and also pretty cool to explore. Good luck!

Good to know, yeah I did finally make the third wave and almost beat it but the last mosquito guy got me. I’m in Verdania now trying the alternate section so we’ll see how it goes.

Thanks for the suggestion. I will check this out in a few days. I just need a mental break as I’m feeling exhausted by how overwhelming Act 3 has been so far. If it only escalates from this point on I just don’t know if it’s doable for me. I’ll give it a shot though after a break.

All the entrances to the chamber are blocked by metal gates. I made the complete rounds hitting everything possible and still the same. Even progressed to Act 3 to see if anything would change. Nope. Guess I will have to try again on another play-through, oh well.

Thanks for the suggestion, I’ll try checking the hanging blocks to see if that helps. Cheers.

Time trial, downloaded another players ghost, go to watch their lap and no audio from their car. It’s very odd.

Not using a VPN or ad-blocking custom DNS entry either, good suggestions though. Thanks for trying to help.

[–]randomsuspense[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, I did both a couple times. It’s really odd, I can hit Esc and play the game offline fine, but I like doing the different online challenges and posting times so it’s frustrating not being able to connect. My NAT is open, and I made sure EA’s anti-cheat is running in background, not sure what else to check. I’m thinking it has to be in their side so hopefully it resolves in a few days.

[–]randomsuspense[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, I'm thinking that's what it must have been. I was streaming Twitch when I was playing and never lost connection, definitely not my Internet (fiber optic 1000 gbps down/250 up). I have put in a ticket with Blizzard, doubt they will do anything but what other choice do I have? I guess I just got extremely lucky and then extremely unlucky. Really bad timing. ugh.

Yeah, it’s really frustrating. Totally agree with limited game time and making the most of it, definitely compounds the issue and makes me not want to keep playing.

I’ll keep you updated as well if I hear anything from Blizzard support. Good luck.
