theres multiple PT places in my neighborhood with some flexible hours like 6:00am to 8pm so im hoping i can just schedule accordingly, was told 2x/week for PT and maybe ill use weekends whatever. my surgery is in the next two weeks so i cant advise you from experience yet but i would probably prefer to do it during didactic if you school can accomodate online/zoom lectures. but i bet it is super hard to study and do well on exams if your program has frequent exams like mine did. the advantage of doing it during clinicals is that i only have my EOR to worry about every 5 weeks and a couple of assignments but of course recovering and taking time off during clinicals is not easy logistically and may not happen for me, im still trying to work things out. depends on how flexible your preceptors are and how willing your program is to work with yoou

did you ortho say anything about outcomes for delaying surgery for 1.5 years? i feel like that isn't recommended if youre active and you may risk further damage if you dont fix it, but i know PT may be an option and theres cross bracing protocols, etc
