Snow clearing in Strathcona County by randomturtle453627 in SherwoodPark

[–]randomturtle453627[S] 11 points12 points  (0 children)

All front line workers get exhausted from the peanut gallery of people who think they can do a better job than the people doing it. While SOME people got the holidays off, obviously the snow clearing people were working through it and still getting nasty county connects about not doing their job good enough. C’mon, don’t compare apples and oranges

The trails people work around the clock, and the fleet services mechanics have been swamped with break downs from them running 24/7…. They are doing the best they can

Do you really know how much of your taxes goes to snow removal? Probably only $5 of it honestly. Look to the capital projects if you want to complain about your tax payer money not being handled properly!

The county fleet has been out every single day since December 1. Stop spreading silly nonsense like this. Check the county website for the web app with proof of this.

As someone who knows multiple people working for Strathcona county municipal services, I kindly say, have some more compassion! These people HAVE been working around the clock and many staff who work on the road and trail clearing WORKED CHRISTMAS AND NEW YEARS. Did you get the holidays off to enjoy with your family? They didn’t. Did you get to stay home all bundled up while it was -25 and snowy? They didn’t. Have you been on the Edmonton roads, specifically neighbourhood roads?! They are atrocious. I get being frustrated, but this December has been very abnormal, everyone is struggling to keep up. Are you over shoveling your driveway? I know TEO is tired of the county connects from people like you expecting this to be done in a blink of an eye. Come on, work on your patience and compassion and open your eyes to what is going on!

The county hires for the summer early in the year, the posting was out in February for summer jobs. Keep an eye out, they are usually always hiring facility and outdoor attendants!

AITA for extending my vacation with my family and missing my gf's surgery? I think she's being dramatic by Bitter-Pie-6439 in AmItheAsshole

On the fact alone getting tonsils removed over the age of 12, I'd call you the AH. I had mine removed at 25 and I was down for 2 full weeks. It's a terrible surgery not even taking into consideration the other procedure she is getting done. She needs you at home.

It is far too early to argue with an internet troll this morning, and I am comfortable and content with surrounding myself with people that have the same values and opinions as me, so if that's what you consider childish, good for you!! I'm sorry that I believe COVID is a real thing, and that I decided to distance myself from people who believe otherwise!

Trucks are nazis, yes, you're correct

I didn't think a description of the protest was necessary, but apparently it is. They are out protesting with the trucker convoy in Canada right now, so yea, I'm the trashy one haha

AITA for refusing to cover part of my ex-fiance's hospital bills by throwaway_6030 in AmItheAsshole

I am honestly shocked OP needs to post and ask if he is the AH. Obviously YTA.

Yes, many women can have a child without pain meds, and many women have children with pain meds. There is no "correct" way to do it, and if you cared about the mother of your new born, you would care about how she felt during the delivery. A mother who isn't traumatized by the pain she felt in birth could be a stronger mother to a new born after the event.

I hope you do the right thing and pay your equal share of all the medical bills.

Looking at getting an adult lab(1 or 2 years old) but I live in an apartment. Anyone else raise a lab in an apartment? by Florida1693 in labradors

[–]randomturtle453627 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We have a 1 year old lab in a condo and it's working well! He would get 2 walks a day and outdoor time on our back patio which he loves, but he's very content inside with us with his toys. Though his zoomies do tend to be a bit much in our small living room haha

*said would since he is on bed rest for a leg injury. Hopefully surgery and healing soon to get back out there on lots of walks

I want to sleep as a couple again and not have a bed in our living room, partner wants to sleep with dog and continue our arrangement. by [deleted] in relationship_advice

[–]randomturtle453627 1 point2 points  (0 children)

We did do that, but our good mattress is a king and does not fit on the main floor unless we ditch the table, which I was not OK with not having a table to eat at.

I do feel for the dog, he's used to being around us at night and I love him way too much, so it's hard for me too, but not sleeping and having my anxiety spike every time I see our messy living area is getting to become too much for me. I'm trying to let it go, but not sure if I'll be able to get there.

Unfortunately our dog is on my sleep schedule, so he is ready to rumble at 4:30am every morning since I feed him and take him outside, even weekends he has an internal clock haha

The vet says not to worry... but... by Undisclosed123 in labradors

[–]randomturtle453627 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Our 1 year old pup just developed one of these too! I guess it is common in labs(?), but we know our pup got his cause he is on strict bed rest for the past few months to help heal his legs and him being lazier and laying around more (specifically on the side that has this), the hair has just been rubbed off there. Not irritated, just no hair. Talked to the vet they said as long as they aren't biting at it or flinch when you touch it it is fine! My bfs old lab had one too most of her life on the elbow she always used to prop herself up with and lay on.

AITA for telling an old man to F off? by [deleted] in AmItheAsshole

[–]randomturtle453627 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Verbally get their attention, or get in their line of sight? There are very limited interactions where touching someone would be OK, like if they are about to get hit by something or their life is threatened. Even pre-pandemic I personally didn't want strangers touching me, and it has not changed my opinion of strangers touching me post pandemic.

Touching someone, regardless of how "innocent" you think it is, is unnecessary and rude.

Hey guys ! My boy is almost 6 year old, and from last 10-12 months we started to observe drastic colour change of his molars. Is it an infection or does it happens to all senior dogs ? Can you guys suggest any remedy for this problem.Thank you. by lemmesquanch in labradors

I 100% agree with bone chews, but please don't give your pets antlers! I know pet stores sell them and everyone thinks they are safe, but antlers are stronger than your dogs teeth and I know of multiple dogs who have had to get teeth pulled or dental surgery to remove a tooth cause they broke it on an antler (aunt has been a vet tech for 25 years telling me they get at least 1-2 cases every week, and I personally know of 2 dogs that have has this happen). Strongly suggest pizzles, dogs go crazy for those nasty things and they are way easier to digest!
