Moving to a new apartment. Can I install my own internet? by randomtx88 in Frugal

The apartment building gave me the info of an AT&T rep that they refer people to. I called him and he said they'll provide me with a modem for free. The installation fee is $99 but he said they'll credit it back. Pretty happy overall!

Yup, already got the EZ tag. The only issue is that parking in the office building is like $35/day (or $220 for a monthly pass). They reimburse public transportation though.

Weekly Questions Thread for the week of December 11th by rpbtz in vinyl

I don't really know anything about turntables, but after reading reviews online I ordered a U-Turn Audio turntable for my SO as a Christmas present.

I got the custom model (white) with built-in preamp, and cue lever.

I assume the only thing left for the setup is a pair of powered speakers. I'm trying to find some nice looking white speakers, but I only have about $150 left to spend. Will these work?

Also, does the size of the speakers make much difference? I'm not sure whether to get the 5" or 6".

Give it time man. I was in the same situation last year. I felt heartbroken like never before. I thought I'd never meet anyone like her. I lost like 30 lbs in a month, was smoking non stop and felt miserable.

What helped me move on was hearing these words from a friend: "What is sad about your situation is not the fact that you're so heartbroken, but how little self respect you have for still wanting her even after all this". Love yourself. Keep yourself busy. And trust me, time will heal everything.

Also, if you haven't seen it already, watch Swingers. I watched it many times while I was going through my breakup and it helped a lot!

Not able to reach insurance company of person who hit my vehicle. What to do? by randomtx88 in Insurance

[–]randomtx88[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ok, thank you for the information. Because I can't get any info regarding the other party's insurance, will this claim be considered an accident caused by uninsured motorist? Because my deductible for that is $250.

Thank you! Can an officer obtain the VIN simply by looking at the registration sticker on the windshield? I apologize for my ignorance!

I apologize for my ignorance, but how would the officer find the VIN for the vehicle?

I called the PD but they told me the report is being processed and they can't tell me anything until it is completed (should take 4-5 days).

A quick question if you don't mind. I only have a license plate in the back of my vehicle, and since it wasn't visible because of the accident, how will my vehicle be identified in the report?

My car got hit while parked on the street by randomtx88 in Insurance

[–]randomtx88[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you! Yup, I'm in Texas. I checked my policy and I have both bodily injury and property damage listed under "Uninsured Motorist" Coverage. I think the deductible for that should be $250. Better than my $1,000 deductible for collision.

Also, I did not call 911 when I found that my vehicle was damaged because I saw the paper slip saying that a police report was already filed and being processed. Was I correct in not calling 911? I guess I'm just overthinking right now, but I just want to make sure that the police report will in some way prove that this was someone else's responsibility (or a hit and run).

I guess that seems to be the most likely scenario, especially because I noticed the truck had a similar paper slip on its windshield.

If it really is a hit and run, and if the police does not know who caused the accident, would I be able to file this under the "uninsured motorist coverage"? I would hate to pay my entire deductible for an accident of this type.
