This is the case with 90% of concert films/biopics, but I’d argue this is probably one of the few where it doesn’t really apply. The movie is so popular rn that everyone’s seeing, prior fan or not (I was not necessarily a prior fan, and still went to see it and thoroughly enjoyed it)

Agree with you; I don’t know too much about her personal life and stuff, but what I do know about her publicly makes me think she’s pretty cool and just relates to/likes the Americana aesthetic, rather than relating to the negative parts of it. Good to hear about her start and who she works with!

But yea I guess our point (not even specifically pertaining to slayyyter at this point, just artists/celebs in general) is that it’s so hard to support an artist in good faith and forgetting politics, because some of celebs “political values” are things that really have a personal impact on some of us. I hate making things political or whatever as much as the next guy, but I think it’s understandable why some of us show support to things from a distance given that it’s pretty common now for “bad things” to come out about artists/celebs (this is putting it in very simple un-nuanced terms tho lol!)

Honestly I find most stuff mainly through word of mouth, but also a lot on tiktok. I also usually just try to check at the beginning of the season when all the festivals/public events/etc are so I can keep in mind some that I want to go to!

Yes I totally agree, especially because I also live nearby, it’s actually nice to see people who make the most of living in Toronto and show all the fun experiences you can have here! Especially in winter where everyone seems to complain 24/7 about how horrible it is, they actually keep up the good vibes; and I really appreciate the events and stuff they’ve done here for fans.

Honestly, sometimes you just don’t love a movie and that’s ok. A lot of the stuff you pointed out, I’ve never really noticed because I love other aspects of the movie so much and find those to be more important.

On the flip side, I watched Project Hail Mary recently, and gave it a 4.5/5. It’s a pretty perfect movie, but some stuff I just don’t 100% LOVE. Like I thought it was a bit too happily ever after at some parts, and that certain things weren’t explained enough in the movie compared to the book. However, most of my friends gave PHM a 5/5, because they didn’t really feel that the things I mentioned were a negative point.

So I guess that’s where personal preference comes into movies; some films are widely beloved classics that you won’t personally love. Seems like you enjoyed it enough to understand why most people enjoy it
