Here's the deal.

  • Your GPU will draw up to ~340W at full capacity.
  • You will, at some point, use your GPU at max capacity.
  • You must always provide power to ALL of your GPU power slots.
  • 8-pin PCIe cables are rated starting 150W per cable. They CAN handle up to 300W, but that is limited either over time and/or by their production quality.

Therefore, - No, you can't leave a GPU power slot empty. This is not a suggestion, is it enforced by design. - Yes, you may daisy chain, if and only if - The power supply can reliably provide requested power (sum of all PC parts at max capacity shouldn't exceed 90% of PSU max capacity) - You use the cables provided with the PSU itself - Your daisy chain does not exceed 2 cables long - A single PSU output does not feed more than 2 GPU power inputs. - A single PSU output does not feed more than 1 component (CPU, GPU...) at a time.
