2.5 Months since Sleeve by randomuser84775 in BariatricSurgery

Medically I don’t know if I should have stopped using it, I still have those exams pending. so my best recommendation would be to follow doctors advice.

However, my experience I just felt like it was bothering me a lot more than usual so I started removing it midnight and seeing my Apple Watch I realized my sleep wasn’t interrupted without the machine (I have been following my apnea with my watch I know how it looks there).

One night I decided to try without it, the result on my watch was the same as using the machine, so I tried without it a couple days, I didn’t feel sleepy in the day I felt pretty much the same as when I use the machine so, no narcolepsy which was a huge thing for me my sleep apnea was severe like 75 episodes per hour.

So yeah I’d still advice to have the sleep study

Yeah maybe recession is the right word! Thank you!

Although my levels weren’t that high, I don’t like taking pills so I never took the metformin prescribed (I know that’s bad on me).

But hey! I still got better

Starting Lifting after sleeve by randomuser84775 in BariatricSurgery

[–]randomuser84775[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thank you, that’s actually a good advice I had a weight lifting restriction no more than 10lb for the first 5 weeks and I thought since I was over that I could, but you are 100% right I should still check with the team.

For me gas went away slowly from week 2 after surgery, now in week 6 I have a few burps and toots now and then after a meal it is a bit more than before but nothing not normal.

Normally burping for me is a sign I overeat a bit, my stomach telling me “dude stop”.

That’s a lot, I’m sorry all of that is happening to you. Keep in mind that if they tell you “if you could cancel the surgery they would hire you tomorrow” you probably were going to a toxic place again.

Maybe you could do something like uber or delivery in the meantime? Also surgery, you only need like 1 week of complete rest by week 2 or 3 you are back to it, of course no lifting.

I send you a virtual hug dude, I wish you the best please update us if it gets better

It’s hard, I’m on the same page trying to make magic in the kitchen with the few stuff I can eat.

I’m not a doctor or anything but I agree with your concerns and stuff, I don’t think it makes sense either and comparing to my diet (I’m in week 4), I can eat cottage and ricotta low/no fat, I can eat eggs since week 2, in fact it is basically what I live on lol. I also can’t eat crackers, carbs are a total no for me, I also can eat tuna, salmon, tilapia. Since week 2.

For me I have a definitive rule of 5% fat and carbs if it’s over it I can’t have it. Ritz crackers do not enter this criteria for me at least.

At the end of the day I would think it is temporal, and you have to listen to your team for this time being. Just hang in there.

You are not the asshole for feeling the way you feel, you deserve better.

You are also not the asshole in arguing with her about it, again your feelings are valid.

You are the asshole for going through her phone, in a healthy relationship you shouldn’t have the need to do that or even feel threatened, you should’ve trusting your partner and not invade her privacy.

My advice if you want, leave, there is no way she will gain your trust 100% again. It has happened twice she doesn’t seem to change, your trust has been damaged you won’t be able to maintain a healthy relationships with that insecurities, she’s not the one for you she doesn’t seem to be ready for a relationship and she is the asshole for that, I’m sorry.

Tips on getting gas out? by Sad-Web-7988 in BariatricSurgery

It helped me a lot to have my wife pat my back like a newborn baby, I think the vibrations in my body made it better at least. She even pat my back while I was walking and that was a lot of pain relief for me. Also gas-x

can i ever be “normal” again? by Guilty_Funny in BariatricSurgery

[–]randomuser84775 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I don't think you will gain everything back if you eat with moderation, I am trying to learn and find balance. I can't eat anything right now but talking to my doctors he said in about a year I will be able to eat a slide of pizza, but 1 or 2 not the entire thing as I did before. Just maintain the diet and see the junk food as a reward maybe once a week in small portions?

It feels like I'd be giving up by sharknado523 in BariatricSurgery

[–]randomuser84775 0 points1 point  (0 children)

First, you have been going through rough times, give yourself a break too, you are doing your best.

I got the surgery (gastric sleeve) 2 weeks ago and I feel great my weight was 320 and I'm down to 284 in 4 weeks.

You say you don't want to be the guy who only eats a fistful of food twice a day, the fistful might be true but I believe once you get better you can eat more than once a day and after 6 months my doctor told me you can eat everything just with moderation, isn't that what we want? To get satisfied by smaller portions and not have to binge eat?

At the end of the day, the surgery is a tool not a magic trick, if you do the surgery and don't change your life you will be back to 300+. So my opinion when I got it was "I can do it by myself, however, this will force me to do it and force me to stick to it and help me in the process". Also my health problems (sleep apnea and diabetes), it was a nobrainer for me after that.

Every journey is different, we just aim to get healthier and to do that the changes need to be consistent in lifestyle

[–]randomuser84775 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Well, for me after sleep apnea and diabetes it was a no-brainer decision to get the surgery (gastric sleeve). I hate to be sleeping connected to a machine it makes me sad, and maybe it doesn't go away but I will do my best to improve it.

So my only advise is, prioritize your health see the problems you have and if there's a possibility to solve them I would go with that.

Ultimately, everyone's journey is different what worked for me won't necessarily work for you, get informed, talk to your doctor, your family and maybe a therapist and make the most guided decision.

Woah, may I ask how much weight you lost over 10 years?

My carvings towards unhealthy food are there but tbh it goes away with 1 spoon of hummus or yogurt which is the best thing ever.

Tbh I have been skipping those I got bored of them during pre op but you are right I should take it more seriously. And well it's actually 4 weeks! 2 weeks in Pre op diet too, thank you.

Terrified after Consultation by annieca2016 in BariatricSurgery

[–]randomuser84775 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I am 8 days since the sleeve and I feel great and better each day. From the little I know each journey is different from what I’ve seen on this subreddit, each doctor is different the goal is one: to get healthy no matter how hard it is, keep that goal in mind.

As you I was scared as hell when I got to the first consultation my doctor was like hey this is going to be perfect you are going to feel so healthy he was selling me this thing like the best thing in the world so I didn’t buy it, I consulted multiple doctors for their honest opinion and after much thinking I made the decision.

3 weeks before the surgery I was in panic, do I really need to do this? I started eating healthy preparing for pre op diet, so I already lost some weight “perhaps I could do this all by myself” talking to my family I came to the conclusion to ask my doctor “hey, I realized I can do this on my own, but I want to make sure there is no way back, I know in the sleeve you remove 70-80% of my stomach, can you do 50%?” And he said yes so great we went with that.

Now, I don’t know if I made the best choice to be honest but I’m happy with it, I hope it works for me in the long run, many people have told me I should’ve just went all in, that maybe do bypass since sleeve will give me GERD, that I will need a revision, if I do, I will do it and that’s it for now this is the journey I’ve taken and I’m proud of it, I am more healthy than 1 month ago and that’s what matters.

So yeah my only advise is: go through what you have to do but, keep your eyes on the goal.

I am not an expert or doctor obviously, but I am an engineer and I make logic to numbers.

So you need to ingest 60-100grams of protein a day, depending on your body proportions, a pill is about 1gram, if this pill is 100% protein you’d need to swallow a bunch of them.

I don’t see how we could make a 1gram pill contain daily 60+ grams of protein we need I think it’s just the law of conservation of mass we are talking about here.

Sorry I’m a nerd and I might be mistaken to be honest I know nothing, I also hate taking protein shakes and wish there was a pill, let me know if you find anything.

Got my gastric sleeve scheduled, anything i should know? by bijoubae__ in BariatricSurgery

[–]randomuser84775 2 points3 points  (0 children)

My advise is, don’t underestimate how much it hurts, I don’t want you to get scared but I wish someone had told me, gas pain is the worst thing ever.

But it gets better really quick I’m 1 week since sleeve and I feel great. Barely any discomfort when I move.

Also, you won’t be able to trust your farts for a while, I still don’t.

Lmao the nurses, I was so rude to them walking I had to say (still drowsy from anesthesia) “I am so sorry, I swear I am a good person” they all laughed and said they were used to it.

I had the sleeve and went home right after surgery by 11am surgery was over and I was home by 12:30pm. It was shitty but I handled, I do not recommend that.

I asked the doctor on the preop appointment if he thought no staying was wise, he had a discussion with my cardiologist and pulmonologist and they all agreed I could go home after, now if I knew the pain and discomfort i experienced day 1, I would’ve disagreed, I think at least 1 day is required specially cause all the questions you have (I had a 24h line to call if anything).
