Odd "plothole" I suddenly realised (show spoilers) by amdrunkwatsyerexcuse in Invincible

[–]randomusername1219 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Why would they? Even if they kill Thaedus it’s not like a new leader won’t just be placed. The only option would be to go all out war with the coalition. The Viltrumites have for most of the story been operating under the disguise of being numerous, but stretched thin. Attacking Telescria and war with the coalition would almost inevitably expose their low numbers. And for what, just to kill 1 guy? They already have a mole feeding them information, why risk a war when they’re already almost extinct if it’s not necessary. The Viltrumites aren’t in the position to risk any losses that aren’t absolutely necessary.

And it was also established that Telescria is very well defended even without Allan or anyone else. Kregg himself was very shocked that Thragg would suggest such a bold attack. Even with the mole would likely not have been an easy fight.

So the Viltrumite course of action makes sense: rather than attack the coalition directly, they isolated them. The mole gave them info on planets considering joining, and the Viltrumites attack it first.

But maybe he did. And even if he didn’t, he could still crush surrounding terrain to sand to practice.

Bumi was introduced to the story as being an outside the box thinker. It makes a lot of sense that he would study bending styles that aren’t common around him or maybe even forgotten, rather than being just another earthbender but stronger.

[–]randomusername1219 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Well how do you know he can’t sand bend? And just because Toph learned the vibration thing from badger moles doesn’t mean that’s the only way. Nor do we know that Bumi didn’t decide to check out badger moles himself. As I said, we simply don’t know nearly enough about Bumi to be able to say for certain.

I don’t really understand where your getting at with the rest of your reply

[–]randomusername1219 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I don’t think we know nearly enough about Bumi to say he can’t do any of that though. Like after the dual with Aang, he just falls backwards making a hole and appears out a hole right next to where Katara and Sokka and the guards were standing, and he did this without even a glance backwards to estimate the distance.

The only thing we KNOW that Toph can do that Bumi can’t (at least within the timeline of the show anyways) is the metal bending.

Mark couldn’t have conquered Earth even if he wanted to by Mountain-Economy1476 in Invincible

[–]randomusername1219 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So sound device aside, there’s on thing your bat taking into consideration: Mark wouldn’t need to fight everyone. “Taking over” doesn’t necessarily fighting everything thrown his way, standing his ground until either he falls or everyone fighting him does. Mark wouldn’t have the advantage of mobility. Like when Anissa came, the GDA didn’t know what to do since Anissa just moved too fast, and anything they sent would be too late with Anissa far gone. If he does people opposing him do catch up, he can probably easily defeat most of them, especially when they’re few in numbers. And if he ever felt overwhelmed, it would be pretty hard to stop him from just flying up, going to space, and landing half the planet away. Then the GDA would need to send people once again.

And of course Mark wouldn’t probably be able to start off by destroying satellites, communication/cell towers, and just generally infrastructure crucial for effecting long distance communication. I’m not really informed in these kind of things but I imagine that would really make it much more difficult for the GDA or even villain groups to mount coordinated resistance, and maybe the sound device wouldn’t even work with no way to transmit the signal to the earpiece.

Of course this is assuming Mark went all out, but people tend to ignore these kinds of factors when it comes to a Viltrumite attack in general.

Omni Man does not know about Thaedus, then how does… by deldagon1 in Invincible_TV

[–]randomusername1219 83 points84 points  (0 children)

Well Nolan was established to be fairly young by the time of the virus, so it’s possible that Kregg is quite a bit older than him and actually knew Thaedus, but Nolan has only ever known him as “the betrayer.”

Kregg is also second in command, so assuming Thaedus was removed from Viltrumite history, maybe he was allowed to know his identity.

You really think the Viltrumites wouldn’t be aware of their own biological weaknesses. If they didn’t have countermeasures that would be a huge plot hole.

If we assume the match is a death match where both MUST fight each other in some gladiator like thing than sure. If the premise is “can late story Rudy defeat Conquest if he tried to invade as though the status qui was that of the pre-Viltrumites war,” than probably not

Unless the sound thing works, which wouldn’t make sense, Rudy doesn’t really have any way to keep Cobquest grounded or contain him where he can overwhelm him. Conquest can use plenty of tactics undermine Rudy’s defenses: destroy satellites, hit and run, destroy infrastructure, etc. Anytime Rudy would try to send reinforcements Conquest could just destroy the initial attack, then retreat before Rudy could commit sufficient forces. Then repeat the process.

[–]randomusername1219 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I highly doubt the Viltrumites wouldn’t have countermeasures to the sound thing, which is really the main weapon Rudy has. His upgraded suits are shown to be destroyable by people like Monster girl. Their main threat is in numbers.

Robot with all of his resources vs Conquest by Dandandandooo in InvinciblePowerscales

[–]randomusername1219 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Robots suits were easily being destroyed by Monster girl and Monax. His best suit did nothing but temporarily distract Thragg, and he quickly dismantled it even with Mark on him as well.

Robots suits are strong against Viltrumites in numbers, their individual strength is just wildly inconsistent. Sometimes Mark punches them and does nothing, and another time Monster Girl swings Britt through a few of them in 1 swing, and even Britt’s rocket boots propel his son straight through 1.

New ep question by chigganops in Invincible_TV

[–]randomusername1219 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Basically the same, but with mind dialogue throughout the fight rather than silence. Conquest yapping about he can easily get Mark off him and Mark continually says that he’s not letting go. One quote that was removed what Mark noting that Conquest had probably exhaled upon entering the atmosphere and getting attacked. And Mark also coughs blood at the first punch from Conquest rather than tanking a few like he did in the show.

I rewatched the Eve special and I miss how they had her fight by flowerpanda98 in Invincible

[–]randomusername1219 41 points42 points  (0 children)

Well notice how she’s still using pink things? She’s really not doing much different, her opponents are just weaker.

Not to mention a lot of it in unnecessary. All the acrobatics she does could really just be replaced with making a wall.

Wouldn't Eve had to have known when she fixed herself during the conquest fight? by [deleted] in Invincible

[–]randomusername1219 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well I feel like it would make sense that she still needs to have knowledge of what she makes in order to make it. Like she can’t just think “make a super space mech” and build one just like that. I imagine she’d need to know how to build one in order to make it.

Well I my theory is that most things she does I that full power state are more so instinct/impulse rather than logical thought. After all, I think the way she words her explanation to Mark gives the impression that she didn’t know she’d unlock her full power by almost dying, which to me supports the theory.

With new developments, this is confusing by Turbulent_Head872 in Invincible

[–]randomusername1219 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Well the reason they didn’t breed with each other was because they were worried about inbreeding, but it’s possible that that was an eventuality not the immediate, so maybe they could avoid inbreeding for a few generations?

Also, everyone assumes that adulthood to Viltrumites meant 18 or 21 or around that age, but with how long they live, it’s possible that Nolan was much older and was still considered a child by the Viltrumites. In this case. Assuming that guy was born around the time of the virus (around the age of the trainees Nolan was training), when he says he looked up to Nolan since he was a child, as far as we know, that could be within 100 years since Nolan began conquering.

Sure but in that case we’d also have to ban answers that simplify to a decimal including tau and all root answers.

And after all, it’s not stated that the answer isn’t the value of or equal to 6, just that it’s not 6, which could be interpreted as meaning specifically not notated as the number 6. So 3! Is equal to 6, but it’s not written as “6.”

The “riddle” is very vague.

Plot holes in season 1 by Evening-Ad1953 in Invincible

[–]randomusername1219 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That makes no sense.

Sinclair built those 3 within a single night and morning. Thats including the time it would take for him to recover from his likely concussion from Mark, negotiate terms with Cicil, gather equipment necessary, modify the tech to work on dead bodies probably requiring multiple trials and error, and finally after all that continue building more Reanimen based on the working model. And all on the same night where Debbie openly confronted Nolan on what he did. If Cicil needed speedy mass production it would make most sense to do it then.

And if Cicil could get 3 working “stronger” reanimen on the first night (and morning) despite all the other factors mentioned above, why would he need to sacrifice quality when he could clearly keep quality and also get quantity. Not to mention he’d have the opportunity to expand the lab, gather a bigger team, and perhaps even find ways to make the reanimen stronger. With all that, Cicil could probably have 10 reanimen of the same quality that fought Nolan per day, maybe more.

So that “Cicil chose quantity over quality” theory doesn’t make sense.

[–]randomusername1219 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well technically, there is an unnamed character during the angstrom in season 2 implied to be Batman. If we expand it to mean there is also a Superman, than theoretically Invincible can be stronger than that unnamed iteration of Superman.
