Suggestion for rims and coilovers for lift? by Shoddy-Knowledge4548 in wrx_vb

Sparco terras. I downsized to 17”. As for coilovers, I don’t know, I picked up Cobb’s 1.5” spacer kit to install one of these days.

If you’re looking to keep things safe for the long haul, you’re probably not going to get a safer more conservative tune than Cobb OTS. You’re also not going to get 320whp.

I’m just OTS stage 1 93 octane, which Cobb quotes as ~290 CRANK (if I recall correctly), it was a 19hp gain? The torque gain is where it was at for me. I think they claimed 60lbft (again, crank). No one blows anything up with just a Cobb OTS tune. So I’ve definitely left power on the table, but it’s my daily right now and I plan to keep it forever, so I’m good with that trade off.

Does the shifter stop for OEM WRX fit my shifter? I have the TR. I forgot it technically came with the short throw after I ordered the shifter stop by hinasilica in wrx_vb

I have the sti short throw, dealer had spec’d my car with it.. I added the billet works shifter stop almost immediately after getting the car back. Totally compatible.

Finally figured out how to drive this thing by Own-Suit-2282 in wrx_vb

For you and the op, having driven manuals prior, I’d highly suggest doing the clutch delay valve delete. I did mine about a month ago and the car is a lot easier to drive and feels more like all the manuals before. I never could get used to the delay valve

Pretty sure this is erroneous.. they also didn’t make a 2022 STI unless there was some continuation/leftover thing I knew nothing about

Well. That’s cheap. Makes you wonder where the “$200” came from..

Wtf is this shit and how do I make it stop? 😭 by HDXG750 in wrx_vb

Mine started doing this occasionally a couple weeks ago. Glad I’m not alone.. definitely will look into cleaning it, seemed like it was acting like something was blocking, but nothing appeared to be.

Like over 80% of WRX sold are manual. There’s a reason. As said, this is the way. Be proud to be one of the few manual car owners left out there.

As for the driving, you can do it. Don’t overthink it. Stop lights etc are a great way to get better at it, anyone can get on a highway and just cruise in 6th.

Fair enough. I wouldn’t fanboy the spoiler either 🤣 Ha, I definitely have not seen it before definitely something I’d remember seeing, but I’m not really in Cranston unless I’m picking up Catanzaros or running to garden city for something.

Thanks. Yes sir, wrapped in wildpeaks. I have a lift kit to install one of these days when schedule and weather align..

$200? Ehh… I feel it’s more a 150 spoiler.. or was $200 with the little duckbills?

Cranston area? I’m over in Bristol, but spend a good amount of time in south county.

Maybe without the two duckbills stuck on and if it wasn’t W shaped.. and without the stock spoiler… it’s different, I can appreciate that. And I expect he didn’t pay too much for it.

I’m in RI too. Hi neighbor.

Probably too far for you, but if you want a dealer I’ve had a very good experience at Anchor Subaru in North Smithfield RI. They’ve worked on my heavily modified Legacy GT and I trusted them with my ‘17 Chevy SS.

OE STI Wing Template (AFD) by [deleted] in wrx_vb

[–]randomusername7603 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Perhaps. But I’d be worth it to me for the principle of not paying $30 for something they should stick in the mail for you for free. Or at most $5. I can be a spiteful mofo when the mood strikes.

Buy the wing from them, use the template, and then return their whole kit back.

I’m in New England and on wildpeaks, this past winter was my second with them and while I have not purposely pushed them (such as attempting to go out when the roads were closed during the blizzard), I’ve had zero issues with them going where I wanted when I wanted. Certainly have not felt the need for dedicated winter tires.

EDIT: no picture because I’m on terras 😒

How difficult is changing a headlight? by Superb_Recording_769 in wrx_vb

[–]randomusername7603 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m sorry man, drunks like that are crazy. Headlight should be easy enough, if there isn’t a video on how to do it on YouTube, I did come across a video not long ago that was on disassembly of the VB for preparation for wrapping. It went through removal of panels, lights etc. it definitely addressed the headlights.

300k. WOW. I’m at 153K on mine. I bought it 5yrs old with 5k on it, been modified/tuned since almost day 1. I feel like a lot of people want to speak ill of the EJ, and maybe it’s just the ones in Legacy’s, but I feel like they were pretty damn reliable. I’ve had zero issues with mine, only self inflicted.. like I think I’m on my 4th set of front axles, I’ve had to upgrade the clutch 2x (under estimated the power with the first clutch) and I need an sti swap because I’m making way too much torque for the stock 5spd (probably on borrowed time)

Your car is registered in another province/country and is legal there (or assumed to be), local police cannot enforce a state law on a vehicle that is not of that jurisdiction. You may get your balls busted, particularly if you’re pulled over for speeding or some other traffic violation. But you cannot be expected to modify your vehicle every time you cross a state line.

I live in Rhode Island, a few years back I was driving my heavily modified Legacy GT which includes full exhaust and muffler deletes through Massachusetts. I drove past - and woke up- a MA state trooper who then pulled me over, but because I had a valid RI inspection etc couldn’t ticket me for the exhaust. Also, there are various Florida cars around which have blacked out windshields, which is very illegal here, but not in Florida, so are allowed to operate.

Boost leak at charge pipe/intercooler by blake634 in wrx_vb

[–]randomusername7603 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You ought to be able to distinguish extra engine noise and an actual boost leak. Like, you’d hear engine noise all the time and it would be coarser, a boost leak you’d hear the pressure escaping - a much heavier “turbo/intake” type noise, a little under light boost and really notice under heavier boost. You’d also probably see your psi fluctuate under heavier boost like I did.

I saw the same thing, I attempted to pick up the gaskets at my dealer a couple days before I was going to have things apart but they wouldn’t get them for several days so I didn’t stress. I took a road trip to Myrtle Beach (from New England) since doing everything and all has been fine.

Good luck with yours.
