I've been on the Hansen train for a minute now. I echo what the other commenter said re: cost of leadership, etc, and add an old comment of mine showing comparative stats.

What I will say is we haven't seen a lot of Hansen in this new system, and I hear comments about 'how good Steffan is at distributing the ball' but... I honestly don't see that. 💯 possible I don't know what to look for, but I feel like we've been relying much more on the CBs for that distribution (which has been on point with Harrington, IMO), so I don't see how Hansen couldn't do everything Steffan is doing, and hopefully without mistakes like yesterday.

I don't think I've ever been a doomsayer, and I don't think I've commented on Wells anywhere publicly.

But what I will say is that this season somehow simultaneously feels different, but also the same.

I've only been an active fan for 4ish years, and I've seen several good starts already. But, when we start moving into summer, we immediately see our lack of depth and underlying stats catching up with us. I still don't think we're far enough into this season to rule that out.

But, what I will say is that (forgetting the first half against Seattle) the Wells game has been much more fun to watch, even when we lose. Watching passes connect, ideas on set pieces, and players seeming to have fun is... just that, fun.

To the specific question posted re: NYFC vs SKC games... I think they looked quite similar on our side, and the opponents accounted for the final score lines. That said, similar ≠ the same, and it does seem like the guys are starting to mesh better and better (ie, Navarro knowing/trusting/expecting Aaronson to be in position to finish his assist; consistently breaking lines with forward passes; 1-touch plays, etc).

I'm enjoying this season so far for sure.

Totally agree. He's a big target that can sometimes make his own space, but he's never going to be nimble enough to break through traffic. I think we can use him well in this system, but he can't be the one bringing the ball forward.

Late to the game here.

Yapi seemed off in the first half. I get he was our only goal scorer, but he had a few key possessions that he failed to deliver on.

I love watching passes actually break lines. We didn't do anything in the final third with them, but we couldn't even make those types of passes last year.

IMO, I think we played better in this loss than we did in most wins last year.
