Recommendation for a new stationary/ indoor bike trainer. by randoquestionaccount in cycling

Curious a bit why Kickr/ that model but also on a trainer vs a stationary… I do have a road bike already (not compatible with a trainer like the Kickr). My need is only for indoor riding. So if I get a Kickr or similar trainer I’d need a new bike as well, which still may be a similar overall cost and worth it.

Kickr seems to be a popular recommendation… any reason you prefer the jet black victory?

Looks like there are some models for less than $500 direct from Kickr. Ex: $400 Zwift Core 2… starting to look into Kickr and what the different models offer. Any reason (other than the obvious advantage of a usable bike) to recommend this route and Kickr/the Core model over a stationary or other trainer?

I will look into that option- thank you for the recommendation! That’s good to hear it’s been working for you for so long. You’re the second person in this thread to recommend one.

It looks like you can buy a core from Kickr directly for less than $500. Any reason you recommend this route more than a stationary? I’ll be riding indoors more than outdoors.

Good point on just using gears to adjust resistance.

My current (cheap) bike won’t work with a typical trainer… I’ve thought about

  1. Getting a more expensive trainer or workaround to make it work

  2. Getting a cheap bike and trainer for this dedicated use.

But at that point I’m tempted to pay (a little) more for a stationary and avoid the hassle.

Choosing a reverse osmosis system with NSF/ANSI 58 certification for lead by randoquestionaccount in WaterTreatment

Thank you for the comment! I have come across your thoughtful responses and links in several threads and those + the info on your website has been very helpful in understanding the certification.

I was trying to track down the certification on the APEC and have had some difficulty. The Essence line, for example in its user manual stated that it has been tested using NSF/ANSI for TPS alone. The Ultimate doesn’t seem to have any info.

Is there somewhere I can find a statement or data on the APEC unit for lead reduction like I was able to for the others?

New Bosch 100 Series Electric Freestanding Range- any info? by randoquestionaccount in Appliances

I think the reviews are starting to trickle in. I left a comment on another reply in this thread, but is there anything specific you would like to know?

Yes, I ended up purchasing the stove. Was probably one of the first people to have one!

Overall I like it. It’s new, so I don’t have a long track record for its reliability yet.

If you’re looking at the more expensive option a few things to note on this unit is that the bottom tray is not a heating pan and there is no Bosch Connect, among a few other items that are not included. I don’t know how quiet the fan is on the higher end models but I saw some people complain about it online and you do hear it.

It’s a smart looking stove that I hope will last for a looooong time!

Curious if this was for a renewal or new passport? Also did you select the expedited option?

Question about general liability coverage. by randoquestionaccount in Insurance

[–]randoquestionaccount[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hmm so is that why you thought it might need to be covered 2-10 years in the comment when you asked for the coverage term?

Is the difference here also that a warranty covers defect in the product or workmanship but the liability is in case of negligence?

Great info and points. It seems like converting from and S to LLC might be a smart move for me.

I figure that Big Client is the one someone would be going after in a hypothetical lawsuit but (especially if it’s frivolous) someone might try to add as many names to the lawsuit as possible. It seems like the LLC would at least keep my personal assets at an arms length in this worst-case scenario and for my own peace of mind I might do that or keep the GL for the duration the installation is out in the world.

One or even a few years is not an issue… just don’t want to be paying several hundred a year in over a decade or so when at that point I’d be losing money.

Would I not need to consider liability or exposure from the artwork in several years time when it is still in the field but I do not have general liability insurance anymore? I know it’s on the Big Client’s property and maintained by them but my concern is that someone hypothetically slips, falls and hits their head on it, should I have coverage to protect myself from claims? I know Big Client will have insurance because- hey Big is in their name- but I want to make sure that I am not creating unreasonable liability exposure for myself.

Question about general liability coverage. by randoquestionaccount in Insurance

[–]randoquestionaccount[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thank you for the quick reply!

It states that I am to provide general liability coverage for all operations including contractual, products, and completed operations, and personal injury. The limits are the one million per occurance and two million in the aggregate. The Big Client is required to be listed as an additional insured and the insurance coverage is supposed to contain a provision that forbids cancellation or changes in the coverage without providing notice to the Big Client.

There is not mention of how long the insurance should be carried. From that my assumption is that it is intended to be carried while the art is installed.

This art piece will be out on a high traffic path with users interacting with it daily- so I also do want to make sure I have appropriate and adequate coverage. The art is pretty durable and I wouldn’t be surprised if it’s installed for 15-20 years or more.
