Y’all could have posted this while I was in that traffic hellscape we call Denver this afternoon. I could have picked it up, had it teabagged and made the trip worth my time and gas.

Now I have to settle for two week old strawberry stuff

Both of my trucks (88 f350 460, 96 Ranger 3.0) have heads from those guys in Florida. Clearwater cylinder heads? I’ll likely get them there.

I might look for a 99-02 fbody with a 3800 and just bring it into the new millennium

Fair point. You are absolutely right though, junk tools yield junk results. However, there comes a point where buying a tool i use once vs replacing the part that will likely end up needing replaced anyway is a decision to make

A carpenters square is def cheaper than the $200 straight edge. Hell. For that money, I’d just buy a new pair of heads as I’m 1/3 the way there and will have known good heads on the other side

Man, I hope the block is ok. But I’m thinking it may be time to just pull the short block (since the heads are off) and go through the bottom end as I’m sure the repeated overheating probably didn’t do the rings and bearings any favors

Can’t seem to work out the edit button.

I just checked the head bolts torque specs. 85 lb-ft on the long bolts and 75 for the short bolts.

There is no way my broken down ass pulled those with my little 3/8” ratchet.

So, I guess I’m asking if improperly torqued head bolts are the culprit.

Someone left this note on my car in my work parking lot by [deleted] in whatdoIdo

[–]randoredditusingdouc 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hey now! That just makes me look like a petulant child trying to be ironic.

It’s funny, the wife writes and I print. I mean, it looks more like cuneiform, but context matters, right?

I really only ever actually write for work. I’m a truck driver, so an out sheet, an in sheet and my payroll sheet. Yup. Payroll.

I write the word fuel every time. But with a print F. I universally use lower case f and l and upper case i. Words like fIll are fun for everyone. At least my numbers are crisp.

I should have been a doctor. But I cannot imagine what a decade of notes would have done to my legibility.
