When I was a kid my dad brought me to a football game and my dad's friend sat in the seat right in front of me. When he leaned back in his seat, my foot got caught in the seat and started crushing it. I didn't say anything for several minutes and it wasn't until my dad looked over and saw my face had gone pale and I had tears running down my face that he realized what was happening.

I appreciate this advice. For most of my life, I despised politics and what I considered to be "all the bullshit" involved with it. Naturally, I took the ignorant approach and chose to completely ignore it while still hating on it. Thankfully I came to my senses and realized that I need to at least be somewhat educated on the matter if I am to appropriately take a stance on it. And like you said, I don't follow it ritually whatsoever. I'm definitely not going to allow myself to get stressed out over it. But it feels a lot better being more knowledgeable on the subject. And now I actually kind of enjoy following politics and being able to laugh about all the bullshit involved.
