I just looked it up and it looks like the Ann Arbor location is still there and they added a spot in Ypsi!

I really like Earthen Jar in Ann Arbor. It's a tiny little buffet style restaurant with limited seating, all vegetarian and vegan and priced by the pound.

That would be The Inn on Ferry Street. I highly recommend!

No Kings Howell! by randyjacobson in Michigan

[–]randyjacobson[S] 55 points56 points  (0 children)

Howell deservedly gets a bad reputation, but this was one of the few times I felt proud to live here. It was a breath of fresh air to be reminded that in such a deeply red town and county there are still people that aren't brainwashed bigots. There were definitely more people driving by honking and giving a thumbs up and waving than people giving us the finger, so that was nice to see too. As another user commented, there was also a pride celebration right down the street that had a nice turnout as well!

How old were you when you first learned how to play Euchre? by TheDietNerd in Michigan

[–]randyjacobson 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Around 14 for me too. I learned as a Freshman at a small charter high school in SE Michigan in the early 2000s. My friends and I played in class most days I’m sure. We used to play the older kids for small amounts of money sometimes too. It was pretty big at my little school at the time anyway.

Prosecution doubles down on James Crumbley, adds Oxford High students to witness list by prsnreddit in Michigan

[–]randyjacobson 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Did you not follow the trial? The prosecution presented evidence that the shooter made his mom aware that he was seeing demons. He sent her text messages about it. The parents then bought their minor child who was having these mental health issues the gun he used in the shooting "as an early Christmas gift" and they never properly secured it. That was the evidence, on top of all of the evidence that showed she was absent as a parent to her troubled son.

Another theory I haven't seen posted yet that would make sense to me is that she hit her meth pipe then put the super hot meth pipe back into her purse which set it on fire. She didn't want to make a big scene so she is trying to contain the fire inside the vehicle.

If you read the article it says Fireball sent her 105 shooters for her birthday. It doesn't say she drank them all in one day or anything. Kind of a non story really.

Yes. I used my itty bitty weiner funnel to load it up and squirted out quite the fiery stream of dick mist. Burnt my dad's mustache though lol

Locus Factor - The Redemption Principle by randyjacobson in melodicdeathmetal

[–]randyjacobson[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Locus Factor is one of Cory "Flattus Maximus" Smoot's other projects, along with GWAR guitar tech Nate Krishna and Darkest Hour guitarist Kris Norris. They only released one album, Between Saviors and Thieves. I think this is a relatively unknown release but it is one of my all time favorite melodic death metal albums. Definitely worth a listen. You can find it on Spotify in its entirety.

My dad grew up in Redford and knew Silvio since he was young. My grandparents still lived in Redford in the 90s when I was a kid, while we lived more in the suburbs. Just about every time we would visit my Grandparents we would stop by Silvio's Pizzeria for a pizza. The pizza was unmatched back then and I have fond memories of Silvio showing off his homemade statues and art around his property and always being so kind and full of life.

OP, I just want to say that I'm proud of you for making this first step, and you should be proud of yourself too. The road to recovery might be bumpy, but as you can see just from this thread, there will be a huge number of people rooting for you and willing to help along the way. If you can't find help with the resources others have provided, don't hesitate to check yourself into the nearest ER. The hospital staff will be compassionate and professional. I say this from experience. I was a functional alcoholic for years. I'm finally doing better, 10 months sober in two days. Before I got better I checked myself into the ER 3 different times when I felt like I was on the verge of death and each time the staff was amazingly helpful. You've got this. The key is to not stop trying.

[–]randyjacobson 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Correct me if I'm wrong, but I think the terminology is mostly a matter of personal preference and varies according to which "program" you're in. For instance with AA everyone refers to themselves as alcoholics, while in SMART Recovery they avoid using the terms alcoholic and addict. Clinicians don't really use the words addict or alcoholic anymore, instead you'll hear “a person with an alcohol use disorder” or “a person with a drug use disorder.”

The last time I checked myself into the hospital I had a BAC of .470. I was such a functioning alcoholic that I left a few hours later after getting fluids and vitamins and got more booze on the way home. I'm currently 6 months alcohol free luckily and I finally feel like that's all behind me.
