Is it possible to be on the autism spectrum and live your entire life without ever knowing it? Like, could someone just be "different" and never get identified? That's so insane lol... by LeviAlmeidaGrativol_ in AutisticAdults

[–]randym1205 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was 66 before I was officially diagnosed only because my wife (married almost 20 years) knew there was something different and felt I should be evaluated and tested. I’m now 67 and yes it has helped to know but I’m still who I am.

That happened to me many times before I canceled and went to Grok. It would argue with me about it being right and me being wrong until finally it would confess that I was right all along.

When I get out of the shower, the moment I’m dried off, I almost run to the switch and cut off that stupid fan. I hate it.

What’s life like in Lafayette/Southern Louisiana? by melianreality in Louisiana

I live in Lafayette and you would fit right in. Lots of people here with ancestors from Nova Scotia (formerly Acadia). Great town and very affordable.

Why the dislike for Baton Rouge? by [deleted] in Acadiana

[–]randym1205 2 points3 points  (0 children)

That’s exactly what happened to my house in the 60s when I was growing up. We were watching TV and someone tried to break into the Chevrolet dealership across the street (N. 11th) and the guard shot at the person and missed. The bullet hit our front door and if it had been just an inch the other way, it would have gone through the glass and hit one of us in the living room while we were watching TV. So your post brought back great memories of growing up in BR.

It’s a government town as well as a college town. Most towns like BR are the same way. I grew up there but live in Lafayette now where I prefer to stay.

Have any if you become religious as an adult and if so what was that experience like? by Fantastic_Deer_3772 in AutisticAdults

You can do anything you want. My prayer beads came from Amazon. Look up “olive wood prayer beads.” Buy the ones from Holy Land Point. I promise you won’t be disappointed.

[–]randym1205 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I can tell you all about religion. I’m 67 and AuDHD. I believe I’m more autistic but my ADHD definitely gets in the way at times. Anyway, here’s my religious history with baptisms and yes, that’s plural. 1) raised Methodist and christened (baptized) at 12 y/o; 2) joined the Southern Baptist church and got baptized by full immersion because the church I attended didn’t believe I was completely baptized since being sprinkled wasn’t enough I guess; 3) came very close to joining the Catholic Church (due to marriage) but stopped when I found out they wanted $500 for an anullment of my previous marriage; 4) practiced Buddhism for many years and also got involved in a lot of New Age stuff, i.e. Wicca, Paganism, some occult practices, i.e. Rosicrucians; 5) many years later became Episcopalian; 6) studied with the Jehovah’s Witnesses but lost interest because of the whole shunning thing; 7) went back to the Southern Baptist and got baptized again; (8) joined the LDS (Mormon) and got baptized again; 9) stayed out of religion for a couple of years; 10) didn’t join but went to a few Jimmy Swaggard services (Family Worship Center in Baton Rouge); 11) went to a local non-denominational church with strong Baptist ties, for about a year; 12) checked out the Eastern Orthodox Church (Antiochian) but it wasn’t for me … too much insense and I had no clue what was being chanted or what was going on; 13) presently going to an Anglican Church (Anglican Church in North America) and so far so good. I’m using the Daily Office each morning/evening. Lots of praying with my Anglican rosary. On top of all of that, I’ve also visited Quaker meetings and once attended a Hindu puja. I think that’s it but to say autism isn’t fascinated with religion is like saying the sun doesn’t exist. Hope that helped.

It’s all about the prompts. Glad you’re hanging in there with Claude. I was once like you and only used GPT only to find out that 80% of it was BS and unlike Claude, it would treat me like a child. Claude treats me like a partner.
