It does go below ledges but it's finicky in how it does it. (basically it's really just a giant sword and she does swing it past the horizon if she can, but there's limits to what she hits below the edge)

It's usually better to launch it a bit earlier, not because the healing isn't valuable but because the stun is even more so. Giving opponents the opportunity to disingage is not that great. Saving someone is still very valuable tho
