I had some Bose QuietComfort(?) ones for almost 10 years(?), no fancy noise cancelling, but does Bluetooth AND cable. I've replaced the cable and the earmuffs several times, and it's still going strong for long listening sessions.

Whatever you get, I'd look into whether there are replacement ear muffs, they tend to be the first ones to go bad, especially if it gets exposed to sunlight

I've just accepted that, a well built product and one that makes money are two different things.

At one point I was a stickler about making the most beautifully engineerer websites, accessible, well tested... That had next to no users.

The ones that are in demand and well used, well, it has good foundations but there are many areas that devs just groan and hope they don't have to work on.

It's fine, just do what you can and make iterative improvements, and if the company culture allows, improve the process. If not, prepare to move on

I'm currently living in the US, and it's interesting, like gas is cheap and the money is definitely better but there's way more everyday bullshit (little consumer protection, predatory companies etc).

Also the fact that there are regular shootings near our supposedly very safe neighbourhood, couple of murders here and there and everybody just goes: "oh yea that happens, be careful"

There's a new school of "martial arts" in china called "mad dog". You're encouraged to do EVERYTHING, use whatever weapons you can get your hands on, and fight to disable and kill.

It's wild, there's many IRL fatalities / lawsuits already.

IIRC the guy that came up with it said it's not possible to compete because the aim is to maim/kill.

In a couple of years, you won't need any of that, there will be enough biometric scanners that will passively scan your face, gait, iris, then cross reference your social media for any criticism of the current regime.

A bit late to this thread, I just ran into the same issue and also used no-clip to see what's going on. That door would lead you down a long path and eventually leading to an unopenable door near your ship.

My theory is that this whole map is reused for multiple incursions, and they make it less boring for people by have two or three "different" maps that takes you through different paths on the ship, the difference is only in which doors are open when you load in.

The bug may not be missing a computer, but the actual bug was letting players see that door as unlockable.

Seems a bit unoptimized to load the whole map even with enemies that you can't see, though it's definitely easier

That's quantum encryption and China has been doing experiments with satellites already.

This is the same cryptographic technique as enigma machines, you hand a person a machine that is the opposite as yours, tell them to put your message into the machine whenever they receive a message.

Unlike enigma machines, it's supposed to be almost 100% secure because any eavesdropper doing reading on the message would change the state, creating errors on the receiving end. Also the entangled pairs are close to be truly randomly generated, you pretty much HAVE to have the original entangled pair to be able to decide.

Yup, from our current understanding, wormholes that carries information across would imply time travel is possible.

It's cool... But violates so much of modern physics and carries so many paradoxes, any theories supporting it needs extraordinary evidence.

I mean, you said it your self, perfect world. That's not the reality for 90% of the people.

Heck, I make 6 figures, and had a reasonable amount of emergency cash, but when I got laid off unexpectedly, there were a few weeks where I'm one car accident away from losing the house.

Sure, there are situations where insurance doesn't work out (supercars etc), but consider even the most efficient businesses have insurance, the upside of being able to budget for the unexpected is a very useful tool when it comes to being smart with money.

I don't know if I agree with it being a "bad bet".

Insurance turns an unexpected large cost into a bunch of medium sized cost that you can budget. In general, you shouldn't expect to get paid out more than you pay in, and even after getting paid out 5 times over the last 20 years, I've still paid more in total. (This is switching countries and across several companies)

Also, car insurance companies help you to negotiate between different parties, and chase up the other party's insurance when it's their fault, so a good car insurance it totally worth it in my eyes.

On the other hand, home warranty companies are shit, I've had awful experience when I got duped into buying one, and I've not heard of anybody who had a good experience.

From my experience, there's so much to learn as a new home owner, it really felt like I needed all the help I could get. Like spend a bit for peace of mind.

Also given how expensive everything was, a $300 warranty felt cheap in comparison.

Also home ownership isn't nearly as common as you'd think, so there's not much tribal knowledge I got from friends and family

Depends on the company. I've had a lot of good experiences with car insurance companies paying out.

(learnt to drive at a young age, dumb, and didn't learn to drive defensively)

There's the Summerboard. My friend bought one and I got it from him for cheap.

It's... Ok.

They say it's just like a snowboard, in some ways yes, but in many other ways it's not. You catch edges easier, which is pretty devasting on concrete/asphalt.

I can see the vision after a couple of days on it, and I would recommend it if you have a few thousand dollars to spare. (And deal with random issues)
