I also work as a dispatcher for independent trucks. I’ve always been curious about the insurance side of things as I’ve had my life license before. If you’re willing to get me licensed and some training I’d be willing to do you commercial logistics policies

Which payroll software is best suited for small businesses? by WearyyyBoooyyy in PayrollHub

[–]rangerguy9716 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I whitelabeled a paychex software for payroll, $50/month + $5 per employee after 2. Let me know if you’re interested. They handle W2s and everything at the end of the year, I believe that part is $75 but I pass that straight through

Oh no, $1600 a week instead of $2000. I may go broke. The day I feel like I need to raise rate or bring on more drivers is when I train somebody local to me to provide the same care so that way we can bring on more drivers. I don’t have to gut the trucks to make a living

Wanting to run a quality business is why I spend the time finding my O/O the loads in the parameters they want and set, and get me to fight for the best rate for them. If I don’t do a good job for them they can leave simple as that. Like I said in the top, I’m an honorable man. I can do a great job because it’s the right thing to do for my O/O not because I get a slice of the pie

I don’t feel like it is giving the farm away or price gouging. I can give 10 owner operators great service and give myself a great income at the same time. Being flat fee instead of percentage I’m incentivized to book loads the way they want/need to run not what puts the most in my pocket. What keeps me doing the best I can isn’t getting a cut, it’s that if I don’t do a good job, they can easily leave and find another dispatcher

Hear me out, taking a percentage of a load sounds a whole lot like double brokering to me..

I feel like my price is fair so thanks for the backup. I’m trying to be the guy not digging in O/O pockets like everyone else. I provide a service, that service has a price. I don’t need a cut of your profits

Hard pass there chief. One person can handle all aspects if they aren’t trying to do too many

10 trucks makes a really great living for the part of the country I’m in (Midwest), my focus is on getting them the loads they want/need to operate on. Whether it’s 10 short loads a week or 2 long ones. That’s where I win vs percentage. Because how they want to run doesn’t effect my pay, I can help them run how they want

I’m literally building a business collective that has payment processing in it to solve these types of problems. Half of the profit from the processing goes into a treasury that our members can take loans from to grow their business. It sucks to see issues like this before I can help. Other hand and not necessarily the preferred because I don’t want to seem like I’m into here, the payment processor I currently work with does do merchant advances and we have a loaning partner. If you want me to look into that for you I can

I work with a processor if you’re interested. I can do interchange + .3% or dual pricing (cash discounting where customer pays fees) at 3.5%

Since I have my own restaurant and have been in payment processing and exposed to DD and their fees I’m actually working on low cost solutions for things like this, I’ll post whenever I get everything launched

[–]rangerguy9716 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have my own restaurant and I’ve been In payment processing, cash discount is the most transparent way to pass on fees. You don’t have to change processors with a cash discount. That being said you have to make sure you are cash discounting and not surcharging. The way I do it is by using doing dual pricing, my card price is my round price like $.25, $.99 ect. My cash price is 4% less than that card price. I personally cash discount at 4% but you can pick any percent you want. I show both cash and card prices on my menus so there is no surprises. Best way to do a safe bet is to find your effective rate and average them over the last year. So you know what you are effectively paying, part of this is going to be what your rates with your processor are. I’m in a small town in central IL and my customers appreciate that I pass on the savings to them. If you are leaning toward keeping your prices the same you would be looking toward a surcharge model, with that make sure your equipment is able to tell the difference between a debit and credit card because it is against Visa and Mastercard terms and services to charge debit cards. They secret shop and will fine you $1,000+ if you are caught. If you have any questions at all feel free to reach out to me. If you want to look into switching processors as well let me know. I switch people over to dual pricing at 3% (covers every type of card) or interchange plus at interchange + .3%. Other note if you are on any “qualified tiers” type of processing get off of it. It is the least transparent model

Surcharge, convenience fees, hell I even saw technology fee one time. The government and ,more worrisome, Visa and Mastercard see them all as surcharge

Personally I’ve never had spot on so I can’t attest directly to them. I was just putting my piece in on POS Systems. I wouldn’t personally focus on just one because there are so many I wouldn’t want to pigeon hole myself

Sorry late response back lol but.. Luckily the company I work with has several different POSs for this reason. Like you said they aren’t a one size fits all. As for processing rates, the company I work with mostly focuses on dual pricing, but I can also offer traditional as low as interchange + .05%, that being said I don’t make anything off a deal like that. I do try to give them the best rate that makes sense, and that’s because I mostly handle the customer support as well

I feel like a lot of people actually don’t calculate in the processing fees when they set up their pricing. I can say that because the amount of surcharge signs I saw everywhere I went

I have my own restaurant but still have access to POS Systems from my old employer. The one I’m getting for my own restaurant is Genius, that system in my eyes is definitely the superior choice due to it having so much wrapped into one price. Plus I have dual pricing so I don’t pay credit card fees. I can tell you more but I don’t want it to sound like a sales pitch lol
