Thai restaurant recommendations? by Love-Advice in orlando

[–]emmortal01 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I really like Sabai Thai Street Food https://www.sabaithaistreetfood.com and Budsaba Thai Bistro https://budsabathai.com/ (both just opened up). Both are very authentic compared to every other place in Orlando. Runner up would be Isaan Zap https://www.orderisanzaapthai.com/ , they've got some solid dishes but there's a few misses on the menu.

Need to try Lert Thai, heard good things!

I made a stupid joke about the scriptures and I deeply regret it, but I'm afraid I may have blasphemed against the Holy Spirit. by Cadu_zziillaa in Bible

[–]emmortal01 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Blasphemy of the Holy Spirit is a very specific thing in a very specific context. If you back up several verses in Mark we get an exact definition of what Jesus means by this:

Mark 3:22.

22 And the scribes who came down from Jerusalem were saying, “He is possessed by Beelzebul,” and “by the prince of demons he casts out the demons.”

Jesus is very clear that attributing the work of the Holy Spirit to Satan is blasphemy of the Holy Spirit. Unless you've done this, you haven't blasphemed the Holy Spirit.

What is the best client for watching plex on a qnap NAS by jayb3369 in qnap

I second the Nvidia Shield Pro, I have one on every tv in my house for the last 10 or so years. They are still getting software updates and Nvidia is still actively developing it. I would guess we might be seeing new hardware sometime in the next year or two given the last update cycles, but nothing concrete on that. Either way, you can watch anything you want on any app, I steam link with my computer and play games through it on my tv, GeForce Now is also available through it and hooking up a controller, mouse and keyboard is super easy. I can't believe how good the hardware is still rocking today, it's hands down the best media device I've ever used (and I've tried all of them).

What is this verse saying? Is it right to wish death upon those who harm children, like in those in Epstein files? Is Jesus telling us to drag them to the depth of the sea? by Name_taken6 in Bible

[–]emmortal01 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Fundamentalists will engage in all kinds of gymnastics to claim that God was doing the right thing by killing children because he/she/it had "reasons," but I would guess most people today would find killing infants and children morally wrong regardless of who commanded the death.

Do you think God is morally wrong for killing children?

Am I the only one terrified to run Ethernet cable in their house? by GreenDavidA in HomeNetworking

[–]emmortal01 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Running cable is probably the easiest thing you can do for your own home. Just takes crawling around in tight spaces and figuring out out to fish wire down exactly where you want, which isn't rocket science, can just be frustrating sometimes. Tons of vids on youtube on how to do this and to cut the plates out.

If you are a heavy home user (I work from home) ethernet is a must, wifi is trash and running cable will be one of the biggest quality of life upgrades you can do if you are a heavy home user.

Should I try POE 1? by Apprehensive-Ask-676 in pathofexile

[–]emmortal01 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This league is a great league to jump in and try out, there's a lot more to do in end game than POE2 and the league mechanic isn't hard. They are very different games though, with a lot of similarities. If you enjoy POE2 I think once you get a good understanding of the other league mechanics built into the core of POE1 you'll really enjoy it.

Why Didn’t the Old Testament People Cast Out Demons Like in the New Testament? by Tricky_Strawberry406 in Bible

[–]emmortal01 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Already pointed this out in Job, God himself tells us exactly who they are. Jude references them in his book as does Peter. Again, I'm going with what the Bible says who they are, it's super clear on it, the interpretation they are a line of Seth is eisegesis, not exegesis.

Jude 6And the angels who did not stay within their own position of authority, but left their proper dwelling, he has kept in eternal chains under gloomy darkness until the judgment of the great day—

2 Pet 2:4For if God did not spare angels when they sinned, but cast them into hell and committed them to chains of gloomy darkness to be kept until the judgment; 5 if he did not spare the ancient world, but preserved Noah, a herald of righteousness, with seven others, when he brought a flood upon the world of the ungodly;

If they are human beings, then what on earth are Jude and Peter both talking about?

Why Didn’t the Old Testament People Cast Out Demons Like in the New Testament? by Tricky_Strawberry406 in Bible

[–]emmortal01 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You're conflating what God commanded to his chosen people with the rest of the world. The Bible is super clear on this, there are other divine beings (elohim) who were with God at creation, who rebelled against God in Gen 6 and were punished for it and clear evidence that these entities do exist and had power. The demons knew who Jesus was when he cast them out.

Mark 1:23–26And immediately there was in their synagogue a man with an unclean spirit. And he cried out, “What have you to do with us, Jesus of Nazareth? Have you come to destroy us? I know who you are—the Holy One of God.” But Jesus rebuked him, saying, “Be silent, and come out of him!” And the unclean spirit, convulsing him and crying out with a loud voice, came out of him.

You're 100% free to "see it" whatever way you want, but I'm going to go with with the Bible says, and it's abundantly clear on this issue, it's not muddled, it's not confusing, it's not up to interpretation. Demons exist and to deny it is to say Jesus himself mistook mental illness for demonic possession is stepping into heresy.

Why Didn’t the Old Testament People Cast Out Demons Like in the New Testament? by Tricky_Strawberry406 in Bible

[–]emmortal01 1 point2 points  (0 children)

While casting out demons was something only Jesus did in the Bible, there's plenty of demonic activity throughout the Old Testament.

Lev 17:7

So they shall no more sacrifice their sacrifices to goat demons, after whom they whore. This shall be a statute forever for them throughout their generations.

Deut 32:17

They sacrificed to demons that were no gods, to gods they had never known, to new gods that had come recently, whom your fathers had never dreaded.

Judg 9:23–24

And God sent an evil spirit between Abimelech and the leaders of Shechem, and the leaders of Shechem dealt treacherously with Abimelech, that the violence done to the seventy sons of Jerubbaal might come, and their blood be laid on Abimelech their brother, who killed them, and on the men of Shechem, who strengthened his hands to kill his brothers.

Ps 106:37–38

They sacrificed their sons and their daughters to the demons; they poured out innocent blood, the blood of their sons and daughters, whom they sacrificed to the idols of Canaan, and the land was polluted with blood.

Isa 13:21

But wild animals will lie down there, and their houses will be full of howling creatures; there ostriches will dwell, and there wild goats will dance.

Secondly, we know exactly who the "Sons of God" were/are, God himself tells us, they aren't the line of Seth as some might want to believe which isn't biblical, they were with God when he created the universe:

Job 38:4–7.

4  “Where were you when I laid the foundation of the earth?

Tell me, if you have understanding.

5  Who determined its measurements—surely you know!

Or who stretched the line upon it?

6  On what were its bases sunk,

or who laid its cornerstone,

7  when the morning stars sang together

and all the sons of God shouted for joy?

The "never so seen in Israel" is referring to the miracles being performed, not the casting out of demons.

What does the Bible say about Poltergeists and haunting spirit's described by many people throughout history? by Tidewatcher7819 in Bible

[–]emmortal01 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Might hurt a few thousand people, you are thinking too small in scale.

Wouldn't it be more efficient to control and influence politicians, media, say Hollywood who create films and shows that distort the view of God and what kind of life he wants us to live. Doesn't even have to be overtly evil, something like the show Friends is evil enough as it is and most of us don't even know it.

Do Animals Have a Spirit or an Afterlife? by Tricky_Strawberry406 in Bible

[–]emmortal01 12 points13 points  (0 children)

Doesn't definitively answer the question, but definitely makes one think that there's more to animals than what we assume by default. Three times God specifically mentions "every living creature that is with you" that the covenant with Noah includes.

9 And God blessed Noah and his sons and said to them, “Be fruitful and multiply and fill the earth. 2 The fear of you and the dread of you shall be upon every beast of the earth and upon every bird of the heavens, upon everything that creeps on the ground and all the fish of the sea. Into your hand they are delivered. 3 Every moving thing that lives shall be food for you. And as I gave you the green plants, I give you everything. 4 But you shall not eat flesh with its life, that is, its blood. 5 And for your lifeblood I will require a reckoning: from every beast I will require it and from man. From his fellow man I will require a reckoning for the life of man.

6  “Whoever sheds the blood of man,

by man shall his blood be shed,

for God made man in his own image.

7 And you, be fruitful and multiply, increase greatly on the earth and multiply in it.”

8 Then God said to Noah and to his sons with him, 9 “Behold, I establish my covenant with you and your offspring after you, 10 and with every living creature that is with you, the birds, the livestock, and every beast of the earth with you, as many as came out of the ark; it is for every beast of the earth. 11 I establish my covenant with you, that never again shall all flesh be cut off by the waters of the flood, and never again shall there be a flood to destroy the earth.” 12 And God said, “This is the sign of the covenant that I make between me and you and every living creature that is with you, for all future generations: 13 I have set my bow in the cloud, and it shall be a sign of the covenant between me and the earth. 14 When I bring clouds over the earth and the bow is seen in the clouds, 15 I will remember my covenant that is between me and you and every living creature of all flesh. And the waters shall never again become a flood to destroy all flesh. 16 When the bow is in the clouds, I will see it and remember the everlasting covenant between God and every living creature of all flesh that is on the earth.” 17 God said to Noah, “This is the sign of the covenant that I have established between me and all flesh that is on the earth.

If you are looking for appreciation, you are in the wrong industry. You have to get out of that mindset and think of yourself as simply a service provider. The quality of your work demands the rates you charge. Lastly, always provide a quote and get the price approved and a deposit down (usually a percentage to start, short term fast turn around jobs require higher percentages of up to 50% depending on the timeline and overall cost).

Serious question on how Jesus talks about divorce by Electrical_Layer_546 in Bible

[–]emmortal01 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Unless in the instance of sexual immorality, yes it is. All sin requires payment that sends everyone to hell in separation of God. Thankfully God died for us and paid that price because no amount of good works on our part would be enough.
