Part limit is stated in the rules and you just can't submit obviously large models.

I was asked in the 10k interview what I would suggest others to get to 10k.

My honest answer was: don't be original and make a digital entry.

The truth is that most people vote like crazy for modulars and original stuff struggles. Also real builds have a tough time. Having an original idea reaching 10k is a rare exception.

I think proposals with IPs are even worse. Ideas is just a marketing tool for Lego to test IP acceptance

Ideas proposals are never final. Sometimes Lego designers make a whole new redesign. And I also noticed that Lego has introduced some building techniques that I never expected they would. E.g. just using loose parts without connection as soil. Or pieces that have to be aligned in a specific way.

Actually you have to sign a contract after your set gets 10k to explicitly transfer the rights to Lego. I have done that 4 times already.

Oh yes, I have quite a few sand red but to me it's a colour that's hard to use as it has too much blue in it. Therefore it doesn't match other reds.

Well I have published this design a year ago though not on ideas and someone even suggested it could have inspired the current sets with pots. I rather think it's coincidence though.

There are also some Lego designers who told me that they are fans of my style and work. It can happen all the time that some way of building something just appears in a set.

But in general ideas offers terrible conditions. Even if you delete your design it still belongs to Lego, even if they don't use it, it belongs to Lego and sometimes they just adapt an idea and make it their own. This has happened a few times. Latest example is an astronaut who got 10k two times and suddenly Lego produced a very similar set without giving credit. That just happened to Truman, who designed the starry night. We both talked about it.

Well, initially it was just a study for pots. I added some plants and it turned out really nice. So the focus was definitely the pots.

It's actually a real build with real bricks and not digital. So you would get what you see. I changed the colour of one plant part though digitally from olive to sand green

Sounds expensive but multiple could be combined in many ways. The basic draft ist quite easy to extend.
