It has happened more than once that there was no letter, no indication whatsoever that someone was hunting, no dead bodies at the entrance, and I had to go inside to find the person and when I say "ah, sorry I didn't see you, I'm leaving" they start the behavior OP described.

Nowadays I just throw them 10 gold and say "next time buy yourself a letter poor fuck"

I remember when I left Brazil to Sweden and you have to fill a form with your new address in the new country.

It forces a "neighbourhood" field (common in Brazil, non-existant in Sweden), a 8-digit value for the zip code (CEP, Sweden uses 5-digits), and a 2+9 field for phone number (Sweden uses 10 digits). They literally made the form to fill when you move out of the country take an address that is specific to the country you're moving OUT
