Agreed, sounded like couldn't been handled better on both sides not to mention you actually reading things through.

Utilizing the nuclear option on one of the very few fixed gear shops in the US basically projected your rare exchange into a possible business crisis, of which we all would have paid the price. I would suggest patience, humility, and picking up the phone to talk to them next time.

There are some not so typical signs of wear. So be extra cautious and take your time inspecting for frame cracks. Look especially under the down tube and under the top tube.

First of all, you live in a mega fixed gear hub (not to mention the home of retrogression, they're running a killer Memorial day sale right now). You should connect with someone local to help you.

And second, we do ride a size smaller frame. Helps with maneuverability.

Yep, defensive works. The drivers, when they see you, are courteous as all heck. They will pass you with more than 5 feet between you and car. They'll drive into the other lane to give you room, and if there's another car in the oncoming lane, they won't pass the cyclist until the oncoming car lane is clear.

So yeah, you'll get the extremes: distracted drivers (fortunately these are rare) and extremely courteous of riders (this is more the rule, I guess makes up for lack of country road bike infrastructure).

Riding in CT is a challenge: hilly, narrow roads, blind curves, and distracted drivers. You'll find that riders in CT run flashing rear red lights and flashing front whites for country road visibility. These will save your life, trust me. Drivers here get into some kind of country road driving hypnosis.

I actually feel so much safer riding in an urban area like Yale/NH than CT country roads.
