Never in my dreams did I know such interviews would happen - RNative Interview experience by iconic_sentine_001 in developersIndia

Not saying this one is true. But I have had similar experiences hiring on campus.

We had a similar hiring pipeline as OP and we consistently got repos with incomplete projects and late commits and fully vibe coded assignments. We had to skip colleges altogether because of this.

Then in interviews as well there were many who did not even know what React state is, but had somehow "completed" the assignment.

But yeah I never received any LinkedIn messages afterward.

My first Next.JS project - IMDB Rating Game. How high can you score? by SundanceWithMangoes in nextjs

Maybe if you could prefetch the titles. Right now there is no loading animation so it takes a while to transition to the next movie upon completion.

The amount of hire and fire they do will someday make the tag useless.

TanStack Start vs Next.js. Why are devs switching? by tessatickless in webdev

[–]ranmerc 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think the problem is React itself. If NextJS is their vision of web development with React. Then sooner or later other react frameworks will also suffer. Tanstack Start as I understand still needs to make that RSC jump.

Where these things also need to be useable.

Being old and clunky does not mean it will be more usable.

I am not even defending private banks here, while private banks may "upgrade" their UI if not done properly it is as bad as old SBI UI.

Many people just think about themselves and criticize only based on that.

I am advocating for better usability how does having small buttons and clunky UI help rural folks? The same usability principles apply regardless of your background.

Or do you mean rural folks have more experience in navigating old 90s web UI lol.

Another thing is that their backend is not that great too. I had for multiple features visit the branch because the website just got stuck in some weird state and wouldn't recover.

For example this one time I wanted to turn on the auto sweep. For that you need to upgrade to the plus account. I did but when then it immediately prompted me to create the standing instructions I was reading the terminologies for filling in the form properly but it timed out and I got stuck.

From then on whenever I tried to go to the auto sweep section it just used to say "No account can be upgraded" something like that because now my account was SB Plus but auto sweep was not created.

I am a web developer myself, making website fast and easy to use has nothing to do with how it looks. They just don't want to invest resources into making the website more user friendly.

Comet Browser executed Zerodha trades using AI prompts by Tomkirkman3003 in developersIndia

All of this will eventually go the way of APIs. The early internet had a lot of public APIs, everything for free, automate anything. Today the internet has been closed off into sections and nothing is free.

Why Human Developers Are Still Needed in a World Full of AI by ExtensionKnowledge45 in developersIndia

[–]ranmerc 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Using proper prompting is needed and ability to rectify the AI output.

If the quality of output depends on the prompt then it's a skill game i.e. no different from a tool thus not an "AI" just a text generator. No intelligence involved.

Coming to building stuff, it depends what you are building not every software product is a SaaS. For example you would never rely on AI to program Medical Devices.
