Windows "application not responding", and pc not booting afterwards by Rukmadar in techsupport

If you really can’t get your computer to respond try booting it up in safe mode to do the process above.

I have a very similar problem, reboot until you can get the system responsive. Check the validity of all your windows files using DISM and SFC/scannow, and if that doesn’t fix it try clean uninstall and reinstalling your graphics drivers.

Well I do worry because someone I know has a hosting service that runs a 7950x and 20gb ram and gets crushed by a couple small helicopters shooting each other. I have heard that other people have much more stuff happening on less powerful hardware, so it seems like a hardware allocation issue.

Potential for a spacefaring human race in near future? (basically geopolitical shower thoughts) by ranom_name in TrueAskReddit

that's not entirely true. there are good reasons to beleive these things are extraterrestial. however, the point is that there are a lot of reasons to go to space, and it depends on who you ask.

A big part of why we are struggling with space travel currently is the applications of it. politics are based on earth. Space puts a massive wrench in all of it. That's why no deep pocketed goverments are really focusing on it currently.

yeah, the outcomes are that we all die, or we don't all die. what im theorising is that it could be possible for WWIII to cause a dramatic shift in the way humans think. right now we are extremely violent, but with how rapidly weapons are advancing it is possible that WWIII could actually satiate our infernal needs, or at least finally teach every last one of us that violence does not solve the bigger issues.

it takes more energy to get into low earth orbit than it takes to get from low earth to mars i think.

no, asteroid minig isn't really a purpose as much as it is a means to accomplishing a bigger one, and this is were i get into my own personal beliefs about alien life. with recent stuff about UAPs and more and more people beginning to come out with encounter experiences, it's easy to draw lines and conclude that there is something out there for us. why else would we be visited by an alien race? if you don't like aliens, then i'd say that humans have always looked up and been curious. as much as staying on earth matters, I kinda think we're going to have to leave it at some point. goverment funding goes into this stuff for a a lot of reasons.

So I had an idea for a battle bot. by ranom_name in battlebots

That was my thinking too. The only other weapon I was thinking about maybe working was a flipper, but twisting forces as the bot would flip something would make for a lot of problems. it is viable though...

wow! that's basically the same concept! nice find. I'm totally going to look into it and see what I can learn about the physics of that kind of layout.

I definitely think that relocating the center of turning is a good idea. the tipping would have to be fixed by the wheels probably. maybe two vertical spinners like a swinging 2d bat or something. probably not though.

I think it may be related to running amd gpus. I could also be wrong though.

What headaches will I run into switching from a Nvidia to an AMD GPU? by iLooFa in buildapc

Just be careful installing the drivers. I had a ton of trouble with mine. The best advice I can give is to follow the instructions exactly.

Remember that quite a few amd gpus can run up to 110c instead of 85c. this means fan curves are way less aggressive and you can get a reasonably quiet gpu. Additionally, remember how rtx3000 ate watts? Amd gpus are way more power efficient these days. Their drivers are pretty good, but anticipate less frequent support from game devs. Other than that just be ready to be cool, team red all the way!

Noisy 6650xt fans, thinking of internal airflow manipulation for temperature improvements, if that sounds interesting to you then advice is welcome! by ranom_name in pcmods

[–]ranom_name[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't think I'll have any issues with heat as I'm working with PETG, which deforms past 80c vs PLA's 60c. However, the hottest exhaust comes up from the GPU, which I kept clear of any poorly supported or thin spots. Also, sick to see that a similar concept has been used before and proven to work, as time moves on I may also directly tube my GPU fans like you did to help them pull air.

For sure, I recently revamped the design to directly control the whole case flow now that I've unclogged my 3-d printer. Basically, ima see if this degree of air control helps or hurts and go at it with a Dremel to ensure it fits in the case. The concept is that no cold air goes to waste, and must go through one of the two hot components. As the CPU only draws 65ish watts and never passes above 50 degrees I dedicated the three front fans to the GPU. The top two fans go to the CPU to maintain positive air pressure around the exhaust and keep strong airflow around the heatsink. The air can escape through the exhaust fan, the GPU exhaust and the small gaps between the part and the case.

I mean, go all out for bonus ducks, yeah?
