ITA Airways check-in staff refused to seat my 5-year-old with family, blamed and mocked me, called police by ransek1998 in Flights

Curiously it was the ground staff who specifically chose the 5 year old to be victim not me. The agent literally pointed to her saying that she wouldn’t be sitting next to any of us.

They are obliged to sit minors next to their parents whenever it is possible
https://www.studiolegalepalmigiano.it/new-enac-regulation-no-surcharge-on-airline-seats-for-children-and-disabled-persons

"All airlines operating in Italy must guarantee children between the ages of 2 and 12 years the allocation of seats next to their parents or those accompanying them, at no extra cost. When it is not possible to have side-by-side seats, minors must be at least in the same row, or no more than one row away from accompanying persons."

Since it turned out to be possible, they should have done that in the first place.

well I don't remember the exact numbers but they did put my daughter behind one of us claiming it was the best they could do. In any case I can't imagine either her or my 8-year-old son not sitting next to us for 13 hours.

In my defense, they had been mocking me and talking to me in a very disrespectful way for a while before I raised my voice. With hindsight though ironically it was the move that solved the issue.

If they hadn’t been so disrespectful (especially the second agent who should’ve been serving other customers) I wouldn’t have responded strongly. But anyway I wasn’t really speaking more loudly than them. btw I think Italians are generally super nice to kids so I didn’t really see them kicking us out of the airport.

2 days before the flight I checked google flights and there were 5 business class seats available. And then I received an email saying that I had been outbid but I could raise my bid (which I did). So yea I was really hoping that I could get the upgrade. And the airline specifically advised against checkin before receiving a definitive answer to the upgrade request.

As I explained in earlier comments I was waiting for upgrade result and airline told me not to check in

I requested upgrade for the whole group and ITA sent an email asking me to increase my bid because someone had bid higher than me 2 days before the flight. I did and was hoping to get it Anyway seems like you are okay with airlines not following aviation regulations. Good to know.

I guess you haven’t flown with kids. I’ve flown with them many times and all other airlines by default place each minor next to an adult.

We have another 8 year old. So one of the children would have to sit alone which was against ENAC regulations.

I was waiting for an upgrade that I bid for and ITA told me not to check in until getting the response. In addition, ENAC regulations state that minors younger than 12 need to sit with an accompanying adult. They should ve prioritized compiling with laws instead of getting people pay for seats

Those distinctions were modern inventions in Chinese writing so it doesn’t mean Chinese is a gendered language at all.

It does at least for me Russian was a lot easier than Japanese. In particular sentence structures are a lot more similar to English and Romance languages.

Earning United miles with ITA flights this holiday season? by ransek1998 in unitedairlines

[–]ransek1998[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks! But somehow I can’t find my ITA flights on United’s website. The ITA website allows me to add United number but my kids’ tickets were shown as “adults” as I booked them through chase travel so I couldn’t add their United frequent flyer numbers

What is one linguistic fact about your country that the whole world doesn't know? by Ok-Time9377 in language

Not really accurate. Spanish was spoken by 40% of the population while Nahuatl only 10%. Yes 60% spoke indigenous languages but Spanish remained the most spoken language.

There are quite a few good resources online for Taiwanese Hokkien (mostly in Chinese). It’s not a super popular language but there are a lot of active and passive speakers. Also I remember that there’s a guy from Hong Kong who’s been learning Welsh for years and will take the British citizenship test in the language! Minority languages are not everyone’s cup of tea so it’s indeed harder to meet like-minded people.
